Default Dealer came down to $26,377.50

took my 04 in for service and figured since it was gonna be a while I should go ahead and test drive the 370z...

like the interior and the exterior is sloooooowly growing on me but we started talking numbers and:

Base model (w/misc. $449 package and no spoiler) MSRP $31,060 came down to $26,377.50

if i liked the exterior more i think i would've went for it but like i said, sloooooowly...

there were only gonna give me $9800 for my 04 Enth w/78k and i wasn't liking that too much either... anyway, my car is fixed and i love the way she looks!

haven't really been in the 370 section so if this price is nothing special, pardon my laziness... if this is a decent deal, it was at Bill Ray Nissan in Longwood, FL

The dealership I went to wouldn't even let me test drive even though I told the salesman I am definitely considering trading in my 350. He showed me a platinum graphite base for $31K was going to knock off $2K if I traded my 03 Enthusiast for $8K. Which I declined because he was giving me an attitude and being a real douchebag. So I left and took their survey and ripped on that dealership.

well... 9.8k with that many miles isn't so bad. When i went to mitsubishi dealership i was gonna trade my 03 for evo9. at first they were gonna give me only 6500 and at that time i only had 38k on it in mint condition... so i refused their offer because i wasn't getting a good deal at all

I dont care what anyone say, the 350z is worth lot more than 9.8!! thats a rip off! book value on are cars are in the 13000 with high miles. Dont let them screw you, cause when the market gets better the value will be up again. Even the nada and kelly say trade in on a 03 touring with 104 000 is worth 11500 and the pp is 13500 so fuq them! I mean the 240 are selling stock for 4500 upto 9000! are cars are well worth more than people are saying! Screw that ish!! so i guess are 350z are worth less than most 240sx!! Sorry had to vent thanks!! hahaha

I would've taken it. Was at a dealer checking out the 370Z. Asked for a rough estimate of what I would get for my car on trade-in after telling him it's an 03 Touring 6-speed with 72k miles. He said most likely around 11k.

So you think a year from now a used 350z will be worth more?

It will be a year older.......and worth more?

Exactly. They are giving you a better price on the 370 because they plan on making it up on the trade. That is why you settle on OTD price first and then bring the trade into the picture.

Same with financing.

Not what im saying. I mean when the market gets better you will get a better price closer to your book value is. Not 6000 for a trade in like most dealers are trying to do! Look at the 240sx they are selling 100 over book value stock. Something not right!

yep, you dudes stole my thoughts. dealers can do tricky things with numbers. always negotiate a price without the possibility of trade in. that is for later, so they can't work the numbers on yah.

finalize the price on the car you're interested in first with no mention of trade-in, then spring the trade-in on em and negotiate separately. Best way though is to sell privately first and then use the money for a down payment and taxes.

With respect there is no price without a contract. Dealers easily pull numbers like this out of their ***.

so let me get this straight.
they offer you a 31K car for 26K before or after your trade in?
Lets say your trade in value was 9k, SO I'd think 31K-9K = 22K before any negotiation since its based on the MSRP.

Personally, I'd sell your 350 privately for a higher value and then use that as a down payment towards the 370. You can get a better deal.

Look at the numbers man. They were not giving you a deal. They were doing the dealer trick. Give you less for your car and less on the new car. So basically they took off the 3-4k off your trade in and then took it off the price of the new car. So you are still paying $30k for the Z.

Your Z is worth around 12-14k.

26,400- 9,800= 16,600 = a low car note or a reachable payoff. I'd do it.
It looks as if he is giving you a 14k+ value on yuor car, in a round about way. Some smart sales peeps can't give a high trade value, so they give good discounts on the cars.

LOL try again. He is not giving him 14k for his car.

He took off the price on the 370z 4k or so, so he took that off his trade in.

So basically if he got 14k for his trade in and paid 31k for the 370z it would be the same.

^^ i think you two are both on the same page, just looking at it diff,
A. you pay 31k for the 370 and get 14k ish for trade
B. you pay 26k for the 370 and get 9k ish for trade

either way you look at it your not getting a crazy good deal.
