350z HR VS 370z Video
#81
The older auto C5 came with a crap tranny, as you mention. The newer ones are a bit quicker, but unless tuned, are slushes compared to the MT's. Stock AT's are very low 13 second cars, so they aren't slow by any means. The MT's have gotten as low as 12.7'ish bone stock (most likely awesome DA and track prep + very good driver though).
C5 AT vs 370Z: drivers race
C5 MT vs 370Z: Vette wins
C5Z vs 370Z: Vette schools the 370Z
C6 (LS2/LS3) vs 370Z: Same as vs C5Z
C5 AT vs 370Z: drivers race
C5 MT vs 370Z: Vette wins
C5Z vs 370Z: Vette schools the 370Z

Actually i'd give the nod to the 370Z against a C5 AT and say its a drivers race for a 370Z and C5 MT. I'ver personally seen two different AT C5s lose to a stock HR 350Z from a roll..so I know for sure a 370Z would pull. The AT C5s are definetly a notch down from the MT C5s. And given that the 370Z is under the new SAE power rating and the LS1 C5s are under the old its safe to assume they are both making VERY similar power figures and weights are nearly identical.
Stock C5's are dyno'ing ~290-310rwhp (vs 270-290rwhp for 370Z). Plus they have alot more torque over the V6.

But my 350Z HR is faster than a 370z. For those that can't read, I said "MY".

I'm not talking about Camaros... You stated the 370 would keep up with a C6 and then mentioned beating LS1's. The only LS1's the 370 would stand a chance against would be the ones in f-bodies and the GTO. C5 Vettes have LS1's as well, however, power to weight ratio gives the edge to the C5.
No way one will even come close to a C6 (even the older LS2 versions).

Only time will tell, as the 370Z is still new and not much info out there yet. One would have to be able to post a 1/4 time (stock) around 12.8-12.9 to be considered.

This is true and a MT C5 may very well still be a little quicker then a stock 370Z...but its definetly going to be a close race when you look at the power/weight/trap speeds the cars are putting up. A Nismo 370Z in theory SHOULD dyno around 290-300WHP and so long as the weight isnt much more they should be capable of a high 12 stock....

I dont know solo anybetter than I know you.BUT I do know you are really acting a fool. Please come to SAR and show us how its done on a crappy track and 95 degree weather AT NIGHT.
As an FYI I ran .6 sec faster and 2 mph faster in Gainsville vs SAR with no changes other than location.

However, I know about DA's. You have it good at San Antonio Raceway. Try coming to Vegas where you won't even come close to breaking into 13's unless you have full boltons (or better) plus DR's.

Didn't see any stock 350Z times that were faster, especially for an HR. So much for your theory that the 370Z is slower. At least at your track, it isn't.

^ I respect you cause you always do your research. All i'm saying is what you said time will tell. But 12.8 for C5 is also a very good time. That's like saying the 2003 Z ran a 13.5 stock cause one or two have. There are some factory freaks and we know it. Average time in the 1/4 for a C5 is 13.1-13.4. My boss with a 97 vette has a filter and borla exhaust and ran a 13.3. He can def. drive too cause he has a 8 second mustang as well. I was for right now just going off this thread
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/street...eath-3-7l.html
But you should know that if C&D and R&T are getting 13.2 as a time a good driver should get that number down even more. It's been like that for all GM cars, Cobra's, and even the Z car.

My only contention was the earlier claim they would be able to keep up with C6's and beat C5's as a matter of fact. So, maybe I jumped the gun a little too early and will change what I earlier stated. C5 vs 370Z = driver's race.
