this is stupid...a good driver in a slow *** car at the track will beat a shitty driver in a fast car 80% of the time...a car is only as fast and as good as its driver and that really shows at the track

One thing I don't understand........HR drivers love to point out "how much faster" their cars are than DE's....which is a 20-25whp (the DE weighs less as well). The difference b/w the HR and the VHR is.......well.......20-25whp. They have better gearing and weigh less. Yet they can't stop piling on the DE and swearing that they are just as fast as a VHR. Not all, but the usual few......*cough* solo.......just can't grasp it.

Wow.. Why do HR owners get butt hurt when someone says a 370 is faster than a HR? Smaller vehicle, similar weight, bigger engine... Clearly a 370 would edge out a HR. It's not
that big of a deal.. Ur not any less of a man b/c someone loses to a 370.

well as coming from someone who Use to race on the streets (already paid my dews and learned from that mistake). i have raced DE and stuff. Ya, for almost a good part they keep up well with the HR owns. The only thing the HR owners have is 1. more rpm 2. Top in power, for a good part depending on launch or roll they will keep up well till you get to the top of the rpm band and then each gear the HR would pull further and further away( but nothing crazy).

Im not saying in any shape way or form a Hr is faster, like other people say it about the driver. Stock Vs Stock the HR may have a car tops on the older. The DE are still a force to be wrecked with and with the right mods and driver they will defiantly put up one hell of a fight!

By the way Hr(stock) owners the 370z(stock) is suppose to win DA! Why do you think nissan came out with the 370Z. Come on use your dang Brain

what's the 370 z's stock rwhp?

ordering invidia or godspeed to replace the crappy turbo xs, then tune. that plus intakes, hfc's, and headers have been landing us HR owners in the 300's.

Of course I've never dragged before, and even with all that, i would probably still get smoked by a stock 370. I can admit it.

And a DE . Stock 370's I have seen (via online of course) on dynojet are in the mid 280's bone stock (SAE). Most (I stress most) HR's dyno in the 260-265 range. And going over 300whp is NOT typical for bolt-on HR's.........at least not on a dynojet (SAE). Can it be done, yes, but most don't get there.......290-295 is more typical.....still strong power no doubt.

Didn't read all of this so it may have been mentioned. Sounds like the heavier car had a passenger recording this. That certainly didn't help. Too many variables here. The 370 SHOULD be faster so it won. This is what happens when cars get old. The newer models come out.

I think I have a freak engine honestly, felt much faster when it was stock than a diff. stock nismo i test drove. Anyways two or three owners on here have broken 300rwhp...A.H. and some other guy. I plan on doing it, even if it means pulling the engine for cams (not that that's considered a bolt on). Dead set on N/A though.

imho, 350z really does look better, and because of all the variability tuning gives our cars, it doesn't matter if you drive a datsun 280 or 370z, you can get power. My z is an hr, but more importantly it's a 350, which I've lusted over for about 5 years until finally acquiring, and am absolutely in love with.

Don't bring up A.H. That car won't make 300whp on a dynojet (SAE)......end of story . They was some other auto Z on the same dyno that made like 315 w/exhaust and a tune. I could probably break 300whp on that thing.

Back on topic......The vid, in my mind, pretty accurately shows the difference b/w HR and VHR. It is similar to what a stock DE will do against a stock HR. Drivers being equal of course.

I would hope the 370z could consistently outperform the 350z...regardless of the driver. Otherwise that's almost as much of a botch as Subara's 2nd to last WRX STi being slower at a 1/4 mile and 0-60 than the normal wrx.

I think the next generation of a car's evolution should entail a significant performance upgrade...one to the degree of which customers can''t have the opportunity to debate whether the predecessor can outperform the new guy or not.

classic screw ups: Rx-7 fd3s > Rx-8 'renesis' motor.
Old Challenger hemi > New Challenger
Evo IX MR > Evo X
Ae86 > every other corolla evaaar
hopefully Nissan won't have to add it's beloved Z legacy to my makeshift list.

That 350z has Intakes, Test Pipes, Exhaust, and a tune possibly even headers.. The thread on the 370z site states that the HR in this video always takes down cars at those race nights in his town in TX. He also stated he was a bit nervous to race him. Test Pipes only for the 370z which is certainly helps its cause but there is plenty of room for improvement for the 370 like the stillen intakes and FI/Stillen Exhaust sytems...

Fast Intentions has came up with the Long Tube Headers that I'm sure when paired with full bolt ons and a Proper Tune (the potential of tuning the 370z has not been reached yet). So barring osiris getting it 100% or another company steps up with full control of the ecu, timing, and vvel , you will start seeing some mid 12 second NA 370z's, I am confident in that.

I by no means bash any nissan motor but this is great proof of the 370 vs 350HRz outcome. To me it seems accurate, i just wish the 370 also had a passenger because 100 lbs is good for almost a car length but clearly the outcome would of still been the same.

also both cars launches were not very good and if anything the 350 gets him by a nose at the start.

I think that Nissan is going backwards by any means.. R34<R35 is a perfect example.

EvoIX > Evo X... ummm yea not correct at all the X hands down beats the XI in the arena it was meant to compete in.. the Track and stock trim, its only going to take a little longer before tuners really get the best out of the X. Not to mention that Mitsu is out of Rally so it needs to refine something so it wont get passed by all other cars in its class.

RX-7 > RX-8... The 8 may not be as fast in a straight line but it handles just as good or better than a 7... again doing what Mazda wanted the car to do.

Nissan doesn't need to fix anything.. its not broken. The Z is still the best sports car you can get for the money. Rest assured they wont mess the Z line up.. after all the Z is the best selling sports car line in HISTORY.

Its funny this was posted cause I never run into 350's on the road let alone a 370. Last night I was with my gf and I was like wow a red Z34 is up ahead. I wanted to pull up and wave or give a thumbs up and this dude immediately thinks its on. He goes like twice just gunning the gas pedal...I was like fine, I'm probably going to get my *** kicked.

He hit it when he was half a car up on me we were doing about 80 so I was in 4th, all of a sudden to my surprise I start creeping on his door. Once my headlight reached his window he shut down and plus we were approaching traffic. He then had to take the next exit. I was like WTF...all I have is an intake and Test pipes.....is it possible, NO. But I came to the conclusion he probably just bought it and sucked *** at shifting...it's the only thing I can think of when putting a lightly modded 03 Z against a 370Z. I was happy though....

this is enough to end thread. this thread sounds like we are in a honda forum arguing that the RSX is the fastest. there is nothing wrong with having a slower car, there is always a faster car out there.....big deal.
