I had a 2+ qts/1000 mile over-consumption issue. The dealer had to insist on a new engine.

After 9,000 miles, they replaced the whole engine.

So far so good.

Only the Manual transmission.

There where quite a few if you include the 02+ Maxima's, Altimas and G35 guys that still complain to this day about high oil consumption..... Some have had new motors etc as well.

Track models only came in manual and the 35th Anniversary auto was a DE.

Yes and most of them were the Rev-Up motors with the manual transmissions. Not sure about the 02+ Max's though, what motor did they run?

So hey... just a little update. They finally received the long block and the swap is complete... took 5 days.. and all is peachy. I did a pretty thorough evaluation and everything seems to be in perfect working order. Also, it seems like the slight clutch judder I was experiencing is gone.

I a newcomer to this site and have been reading a lot of useful stuff on this site.
I had a question, sorry if it is stupid...

I was looking at buying a 35th anniversary.... The guys said he changes oil every 3000 miles and has to top up about every 6 weeks.

I dont' mind topping up the oil, but is this a bad for the engine? Should i be really concerned about this?

I can attest to that, I have 48K on my 05 AE and they are putting in the THIRD replacement engine next Monday. Waiting for the buyback so I can get a 370, just checking that there isn't an OC issue with the 370 engine.

If you're topping between changes you've got a problem, or at least something that will become one soon. Even with twin turbo setup I don't have to add oil with 3000 mile changes...

all vq37s made before april 2010 are suseptable to the bulletin... not every engine is going to consume oil... but 370 anniverseries and newer made after april of this year do not get a "free" engine covered under the oil consumption bulletin

My 03 had 65k miles on it when i got rid of it, never gave me an issue. I thought the 03 issues were more tranny, window, and tire based. Thats what it was for me anyway. On the flip side of that i heard about alot of issues with oil consumtpion with the 06's lol

Hows the replacement engine holding up?
-I am assuming that all is well, since you have not posted in almost half a year...

Default Ntb10-090?

Any one heard of this tech bulletin? Anyone have a re-print? I am currently on my 4th engine due to to oil consumption on my 05 AE 350Z. Was looking to the 370Z as both an upgrade and a car with no engine issues. My cherry has been poped I think. From my research it looks like they are blaming rings and it effects 370's (09 & 10's) built before april 5 2010. Can anyone substantiate this?

My 09 370Z started burning oil just like my 06 at 5000 miles. 06 was bought back after second engine started burning oil. Credit was given towards 09 and had the same problem no luck with Z's.

My G was built in 4/10 based on the door jamb sticker. When on Enoes semi-synthetic my car consumed oil, but I switched to Redline and it's fine.

There is a comment above about 4/10 being the cutoff. Do you all think my engine falls within scope of bulletin?
