It's a better car over all guys. Sure its expensive and probably not worth the upgrade to some but if you can afford one you would be in one already esp. the Nismo. Lastly the VQ37VHR responds better to mods. I test drove a NISMO and I fell in love - rev match is great but I second the lazy comment.

i have no interest for this thread but for the guy who said it takes alot to get the new 5.0 stang to low 12's doesnt know what hes talking about at all..i guess a good set of tires is alot....bone stock the new 5.0 is turning mid 12s and in the 11's with bolt ons and tires...get it right..

I think the 370z is a pretty nice car, the styling is subjective. Personally i really like the rear end. The rear fenders have much wider look then the 350z. The front is not exactly pretty but i think it'll grow on you.
Since a lot of us drive modded 350s...we might not see much improvement when test driving a 370 (and depending on mods might see a downgrade).
Even though i love my 350z...i'm pretty sure i'm going to "upgrade" to a Bimmer when it comes time to get a new car

A camaro SS is a 12.9 car and doesnt handle nearly as well as the 370z... guys have went 12.9 stock in AT 370s and i think 13.0 or 13.1 is best stock 6M... the 5.0 is a good performer but I would still take the 370z over it 6 out of 7 days a week...
just because a car is slightly faster in a straight line doesnt make it a better car, AT ALL ....

I agree that slightly faster in a straight line isn't really what most Z owners are after. Yes, 500hp in a Z would be nice but, then there goes the gas mileage and there would be a price tag to come with it. Can you say this is why 300ZX TT failed? Awesome car! The fact is the general public didn't have the $45-50K back then to buy one. To date, do we really want to spend that much for a Z? Oh wait, roadsters are getting there.
I think that most people that buy a 370Z think that it has more than enough power for their daily commute and weekend fun car and the price is right. I'm still having fits spending over $30K for a new car. Mine was only $32K. Unless you are into racing every weekend the 370Z provides more than enough power for the street.
There are better choices out there for purpose built road race cars... I mean really if that is the goal buy a used Z06 Vette and pump it up if you want to keep the cost down. Then you'll have something that will beat 99.9% of all comers.
The Z was and still is a poor man's Vette imo. I know, I know GTR, GTR, GTR. I almost talked myself into one of those. But really, have you looked at that thing..... ugh .... Flame on !!!

I don't think you have enough experience with them to make the claims you are making. you sound like someone that ran into one once on the street, not a drag racer.
I had an SS for 6 months, they need some grunt to overcome the weight, but they really move. terrible car overall imo but they look pretty and have the ***** to back up the weight. I wouldn't discount their performance based on whatever random run ins you've had.
check out their 'fast list' - there's a handful of people in the upper 11's with bolt ons and DR's. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21013

Now in the defense of the Camaro, have you guys seen the ZL1... But really, $130K + for a camaro. I'd buy a ZR1 before that.
Imagine what you could do to a Z for just $10K more or, a total of about $45K. You could then have your 500rwhp Z and it might just put you up with a used ZO6 set up for the track. It would be about $10K more but, I do like the idea of it all.
Back to topic - 370Z is well worth the extra money over a 350Z imo. 350Z now looks dated and a little like more like a Audi TT in stock form than the original 240Z car. The 370Z looks more like a refresh on the 240Z to me.
The 370Z is now coming into it's own looks which to me looks a lot like a 21st century car should look like. Can hardly wait for a 400Z. Hopefully it will be a hybird and get 50mpg with over 400hp though. It will happen I think ... maybe in the next 5 years I figure. The price .... I'm guessing $50K though.
Let's see if my prediction comes true.

Quit dreaming and if you want to race go FI or get a real car. The 370z is a waste of money period if you are trying to road race.. Just use it to stroke your imaginary ego bro.. I hate vets and cameros but you need to give some respect.
You beat cameros lol .. cool story bro.

"The styling is subjective." That's a really good way to speak about the 370. I test drove one while waiting for my 350 to be serviced. I wish Nissan would explain why they took away the exhaust note. Overall I was not all that impressed with the interior...mainly the new location and changes of gauges. Why a clock on the dash of all things? What a waste. The car looks huge for some reason even though it is supposed to be smaller. I'm waiting for the next gen Z.

bringing the story back around, I was looking to spend around 30k for my next car. Having driven mostly performance cars (hell, my wife's baby hauler is a 6 speed 2010 GTI) I kind of new what I was looking for. Found a 370 base for 27k with 9500 miles. Knew I wanted a Z, but wasnt sure which one, just knew if I did a 350Z it would have to be a HR and have low mileage. So low and behold, a few weeks of cruising online, I find a mint 08 350z with 4k miles on it, orange leather seats, immacluate condition, but the kicker is it was only 9 k ish cheaper then a sport package 370. Call credit union, get pre approved for the 370 just in case, and look at both cars. Pretty low consumer debt (for being military in my 20's with a family) Loved the 370. Loved it. but guess what? Loved the 350z also. Interior quality not as good, not as fast, but for what it was, and the extra 150 ish to 200 a month I would have had to pay for the 370, I picked up the 350Z.
Now am I poor? maybe. Am I justifying my purchase of the 350z over the 370 because of financial reasons? Yes. Given both cars, same price, right now I would have taken the 370. Not my a football field, but still. I honestly think the 350z looks better. Looks like a bigger 300zx to me, which was the end all be all growing up in the 90's for me. But for performance/braking/handling/everythign else? 370z. Hands down. But enough to justify the extra 9-10k? nope. And I think that's what people need to realize. Most people aren't driving 350z's because they cant afford 370's. But for most of us living in the real world, with rent and kids and etc, the juice has to be worth the squeeze. and for me, the 370 was'nt a big enough upgrade to justify the price difference. But brand new stock for stock and the same price? 370 all day. But that doesn't stop me from getting a **** eating grin every time I sit in my bright Orange leather seats and fire up my 350z, with a little bit of extra padding in my wallet to do other things with.
p.s.- their is a nismo 370 that lives a few blocks away from me, and is responsible for ruining a few pairs of my pants. Now that was one I couldn't afford!

Just so you guys have reference. Below was my '04 350Z with '06 wheels:
Not a nick on the car at all for four years .... well, until that fatal day
It may not look it but every panel / door was damaged. Even the roof that came down on my passenger's head.
The Z saved our lives that day and also a lot of pain. I had some pain for some time there after. However, I believe it would have been much worse in a lot of other small cars. The car took the hit not the people
And of course the new ride, with the backup in the background:

LOL - I'm not too worried about my grammar on a auto forum... ya know what I mean? This is supposed to be fun and I just throw them out there.... OMG I miss- spelled something I'm sure... Ehhh who cares? Not like I'm trying to impress anyone with my car knowledge or use of the english language. Just trying to have fun.
