The Brutal Truth about the Z35
#761
See the thing is yes $40k is in market value but it's also technically still a 370 so they don't need a whole lot of R&D here and all of that stuff was a carry over. This is what I think about Nissan when it comes to brakes and the Z33....all terrible unless Tutuapp 9Apps Showbox it's Brembos. Makes the car a sad excuse for a sports car, yes it handles great but the brakes are TERRIBLE, in contrast my 2018 GTI has 340/310 brakes with SINGLE piston calipers and feels SO much better.
Same price point at max, starts much lower, has only about 240hp, math doesn't add up there.
I have the Nismo brakes on my Z and they are good but it's aftermarket, and it only really "feels" better than the GTI for actual stopping distance is similar.
my gripe with the new Z is how it is packaged very similar to the Miata where you can only choose basic (terrible) or top end which may have some stuff you don't want.

Everyone has different values for what is worth it or not. I'm not paying $40-45k for a 13 year old chassis with new sheet metal and a borrowed engine, yet I was perfectly fine spending $5k on my Recaro seats.

That said, however, it is dated (however effective) and this lends support to my belief that many EXISTING Z/G owners just aren't as enamored with it. And Nissan wants to attract NEW, first time Z buyers with all the hoopla. Like, targeting people who want a Supra or incenting those buying a Toyota 86 to spend a little more for the power of the Z. Just guessing.... if I were a Nissan marketeer, I would certainly use this tactic.

Wait, here's another semi-related thought/conjecture.... Red trimming is Nismo signature.....

It could be a Nismo and possibly equipped with DCT to justify it's price tag, which frankly it needs to have if it's going to have a closer price to the C8.

What's a normal color scheme for a car that hasn't been released yet?

The dash is an LCD screen. It has configurable gauges. The red car currently has a G-meter. You can change it to a boost gauge and likely many other gauges.

But yet another one bursting my bubble. I mean, I thought maybe it was a turbine speed gauge for the jet engined Nismo.
