Porsche accuses Nissan of cheating...

One of the tuner mags recently did a short story about how much power the GTR really makes. They compared track times and dyno numbers from pre-production cars and two production models. The basic consensus was that the production cars are making close to 530HP at the crank, not the advertised 480HP.

That's quite a marketing ploy by Nissan.

Also remember, 25 seconds on a that track time is just a hair over 5% of the total time.
Do you think a pro driver could cut off 5% of the time as compared to a chassis engineer?
I think a pro-driver could be 5% faster in a car hes lapped several times as compared to someone who hasnt.

If that were the case, then the ZR-1 would be capable of a 7:05 - 7:10 lap time; afterall, the GM claimed time was obtained using an engineer, not professional driver as well.

Their longest straight, the entire runway when they attempt high speed runs that's not even part of their normal track, is dogshit compared to the nurburgring's longest straight. Plus the track is entirely flat, not even comparable.
The level of logic in this thread is amazing.

RWD faster than AWD in the same platform around the same track. DO you get it now?? Do I need to spell it out more for you?
RWD > AWD on the Nordschleife
Now stop talking already "motormouth"
Good lord, where do these people come from honestly? The internet is full of smart guys.

The reason most race cars are RWD is because AWD cars are generally against the rules. This is done primarily because of the cost and complexity of AWD. The best way to kill a racing series is to make it so expensive to compete, only the richest teams will be competitive. Oh and to have lots of mechanical failures, an inevitable consequence of added complexity.
ask yourself this: Why are WRC cars running AWD in Germany, or Corsica or any of the other Tarmac rallys? Certainly it would not be that hard to simply send no power to the front wheels, and yet they still do it....because the cars are already handicapped with the weight penalty and they'll get out of turns much faster with the front wheels receiving a portion of the torque.
BTW i have no idea about weather or not nissan is lying. I just needed to end all this RWD>AWD nonesense.
