Figured pro drivers weren't needed

But there was an 11.5@120 on vid and the rest are typically 11.6-11.8

didn't really sound like they were trying to tie the time that much. Who is more motivate for a great time, a Nissan driver who has driven formula or a porsche test driver?

Top Gear'S own lap times: (I know, there's still a hundred variables, but this seems consistent with what others have found)

Also, If I do wind up buying a GTR, I realize that times will still come down to my own sorry-a$$ driving skills.

The list [from gtrblog.com/index.php/2008/07/20/top-gear-season-11-nissan-gt-r-on-the-to-1?blog=4]

Nissan GT-R: 7th place - 1:19.7

Here’s the top 20 of the Top Gear test track power board:

1:17.3 – Ascari A10
1:17.6 – Koenigsegg CCX (with “Top Gear Spoiler")
1:18.4 – Pagani Zonda F
1:18.9 – Maserati MC12
1:19.0 – Ferrari Enzo
1:19.5 – Ariel Atom 2 300
1:19.7 – Nissan GT-R
1:19.7 – Ferrari 430 Scuderia
1:19.8 – Porsche Carrera GT
1:19.8 – Lamborghini Murciélago LP640
1:20.4 – Koenigsegg CCX [6]
1:20.7 – Ascari KZ1
1:20.9 – Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren
1:21.2 – Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano
1:21.9 – Ford GT
1:22.3 – Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale
1:22.3 – Porsche 911 GT3 RS
1:22.4 – Chevrolet Corvette Z06
1:22.5 – Noble M15

BTW, I am not saying that it's not possible for Nissan to have cheated in some way.

Look at their HP rating system for 2006 and older cars... in 2007, they had to start using actual SAE ratings.

They built an all-new 3.5 engine for 2007 why??? So they would not get caught "cheating" by the public.

Nissan says: "Oh... the all-new 07 [HR] engine has "6" more HP than the 06 rev-up DE due to the dual intakes"

That's why the 07 car is ~.5 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile. Right! GTFO!

My HR on the same dyno as my wife's 06 rev-up made almost FOURTY more HP up top - i am not talking Peak HP. Peak HP was "only" a 30-hp difference.

Nissan cheats. I still like the GTR Though.

Sour grapes? Maybe Porsche should take this as a wake up call.
maybe porsche has stooped at it's lowest...i'm not certain if I still aspire for the brand anymore, under such an act of desperation...
