Forged Performance Motorsports Announcement
***For Immediate Release***
March 17, 2009
Marietta, GA
Forged Performance, one of the leading Nissan and Infiniti tuning and parts companies in the country, is pleased to announce its entry in the 2009 Redline Time Attack Series with its 2009 Nissan GT-R. Forged Performance will compete against the top all-wheel-drive teams in the business in the ultra-competitive Modified AWD Class.
As in 2008, the Forged Performance entry will be driven by Sharif Abdelbaset, who also does double duty as the company’s General Manager and Certified Tuner. "Our inaugural effort in Redline for 2008 was nothing short of a smashing success," says Abdelbaset. "The team earned five podium finishes and set a track record at VIR's challenging full course.” After taking second place in the 2008 Championship Points in the Unlimited RWD Class, the Forged Performance's Nissan 350Z Twin Turbo is being retired to make way for the new car.
In early private testing at Road Atlanta, the Forged Performance Nissan GT-R set some incredibly fast lap times in bone stock configuration, approaching race-prepped vehicle times. Key sponsors, including Toyo Tires, JRZ Suspension Engineering, and Volk/Mackin Industries, have jumped on board quickly to help improve the car over the next couple of months. The team will be running Toyo R888 tires, JRZ Triple Adjustable Coilovers, and Volk RE30 wheels. Competition begins June 20 at the Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, IL. The team schedule includes six events in 2009. The season finale will be at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif, with more than 5,000 spectators expected.
As a franchise team with Redline Time Attack, Forged Performance and its sponsors are guaranteed national media exposure, including television coverage at every event, Dsport Magazine articles, placement of Forged Performance vehicles in all promotional materials, guest appearances, and a profile in the official series program. New sponsors may contact Forged Performance directly with all proposals. “We are looking forward to a winning season in 2009 and are confident that we’ll be able to pull out some amazing performances with the new Nissan GT-R with the support of our sponsors and other supporters,” added Abdelbaset.
Forged Performance LLC was founded in 2005 and quickly became one of the largest Nissan tuning and parts companies in the country. Its 6,000 square foot facility in the metro Atlanta, Ga., area houses their entire operation, including eight full-time employees specializing in fabrication, engine assembly, service, dyno tuning, sales and marketing.

No plans for Unlimited AWD. Unfortunately, that is the home of 2300lb 600whp+ AWD machines, and the lardy 4000lb 450whp-550whp GT-R just wont cut it. But I will say, we had 3 GT-R's on street tires at Road Atlanta, and the times were really quite shockingly low. Who knows how close we'll end up getting.
But you never know..down the road, we might convert it into a rediculous full blown race car...it's happened before...LOL.

WOW that car looks nice. I was talking to Ryan a few days ago and he mentioned the GTR. Should be an interesting year for you guys. Get some better pics of the car with the RE30's on it. What are the specs on the wheels / tires?
