Default Edmunds Inside Line: 2009 Nissan GT-R Spec V Full Test

And there's more GT-R in the pipeline. Mizuno tells us, "The SpecV, in contrast to what you might be thinking, is not the high-performance version of the GT-R." That's right. Mr. GT-R has more magic up his sleeve.

Not to diss on Nissan but there just out of there mind with that price. I predict them selling 2 of those cars. Nobodys going to pay 162,000 for a Nissan.

Are they trying to tell us that Seats, rims, breaks and some shocks cost 100,000? They can stick that Spec-V crap in there ***.

That's too much money for that thing!!! I rather get a regular GTR and input some aftermarket support in it for a lot less money.

nissan is taking too much advantage of the GT-R name to make money.

in japan they will sell. thats exactly why this car won't be sold in the US because people here care to much about a badge. the spec-v outperforms the GT2 on all levels and still cost $30,000 less

then you would be voiding the warranty.

also that logic is flawed. why buy any higher performance version of a car when you could mod the lower version to be faster than the stock higher performance version? i could mod a 335i to be faster than a M3 for a lot less money

For example, Mizuno says, "We thought the opposite to most engineers; we thought backward. For our GT-R, we first came up with a target curb weight of around 3,860 pounds and then thought, 'Now, what do we need to achieve that weight?'"

The above statement is either a joke or PR. Who in their right mind starts out with a goal of almost 3900 lbs.? The ZR1 vette is about 500 lbs less for example & puts out more hp.

double the price is ridiculous for those improvements and since it wont be for sale over here, the ZR1 will remain untouched by nissan.

When you factor in options, comfortability, safety, and emissions that number isn't so bad. Also the Corvette is all fiberglass. Have you ever touched a Z06? I found out the hard way you can actually put a dent in one by leaning against the rear body panel. They are extremely light and fragile. So think in terms of cost to fix if you get into an accident. The GTR is heavier and produces less power (sometimes) and still is faster around 95% of the tracks in the world.

The only downside is that when the time comes to replace the rotors and pads, you'd better have $50,000 in your back pocket.

Just because the body panels flex doesn't make the car fragile. You are aware the car has a chassis, right?
