Default Being A GT-R Owner Sux A$S Sometimes!

Long story short, I noticed the tire pressure constantly dropping in the rear left tire, i fill it up with air, then in a day it will go down by 10 psi or so...

so, i took it to the dealer, and guess what, there was a nail in the rear tyre.

ok, fair enough, my bad...

when i asked about how much it will cost to repair it?

they said, we cant patch it, we have to replace the entire tyre.. over a tiny nail puncture?!

I asked how much that will cost, and i got quoted something around $735 !!!

WTF!!

WAIT THATS NOT THE BAD PART YET!!

this a$shole from headquarters comes up to me, and says that they have STRICT orders from japan to replace ALL 4 TYRES because by replacing just one, the balance of the car might be compromised, cause of the other tyres tread and all...

mind u, the gt-r's only done about 2000 miles now...

so, one nail! one lousy nail was gonna cost me about $3,000 !!

and to make things worse, he said that if i dont do that...

here it comes....

MY WARRANTY MIGHT GET VOIDED !!

i wasnt gonna take this, i went down to HQ... Spoke to one of the supervisors there, and he said he'll see what he can do to help me out..

I actually told him that i dont want the gt-r anymore, and he can just take it, cause im not gonna settle with a car thats gonna give me this many headaches over one small nail!

i ended up just replacing the one tyre...

but seriously!! wtf!!

listen nissan, i know the gt-r is your crown jewel and all, but its not a Mclaren F1 ! i hate it when car companies do this to their customers...

Meh... rant over...

If ur considering buying a GT-R, its not all Shine and Glory, be prepared to treat ur car like its a reventon, or else, u might pay dearly....

peace !

The car is not worth that much to me. Give me a 350Z and 500hp and I would be happier. Enjoy your GT-R but it is not a car I want to own. No manual Tranny = not my type of car.

To make things even worse... I told the guys down at the dealer ship:

If i bring the tyre (same one) can u replace it

They Blatantly said: "No, We have to clear our inventory! And if u dont use one of the tyre we have, we wont cover u" !! wtf !!

I did, but still not happy with the way the **** got handled...

do this, dont do this, do this, dont do this, if u do this we will void u, if u dont do this we will void u...

its like ur worried more about the warranty than actually getting driving pleasure...

everytime u go a bit hard on the car, u end up on this guilt trip!

thats not why u buy this car, u get it to enjoy it!

porsche basically tells its customers, go out, abuse ur cars...

sux with nissan...

Have you checked about seeing if your tires have road hazards on them? I thought they didn't come with it from factory but my moms Toyota Camry came with a 1 year road hazard reimbursement warranty when she got a nail in her tire. And trying to tell you, its required for you to replace all 4 tires, and could void warranty...what a joke. Have you even tried looking online for a cheaper alternative (Although dealer should take care of you being you ONLY have 2k miles on it..)

they play the "if u can afford a gt-r, u can afford to change ur tyres" card

which in my opinon is B.S.

No, unfortunately the gt-rs tyres dont have the hazard warranty thing...

They got away with it because you let them. The only reason I could see them not wanting to patch it is because the Speed rating is no longer valid once the tires been puncture. So itd no longer be considered safe for you to go 193 mph lol

With 2,000 Miles on them I could understand replacing the two rear tires but all four is rediculous.

3 grand is exactlly double what it costs me for a set of 245 and 305 19's, shipped, mounted and balanced.

You should be looking for another dealership who would actually take care of customers. Maybe you're too passive. I would be raising hell if they even tried to get me to purchase the new tire let alone all 4.

thats what they said, they said that if they patch it, the car could become unstable at higher speeds...

my safety > money... so i went with replacing 1 tyre and still keeping my warranty...

but the fact that they made a huge fuss about replacing all 4 and they cant do anything else cause those were their orders from japan, is just B.S...

hence my rant...

and i didnt know till i had to check, but the gt-rs tyres arent ur standard off the shelf potenzas

that even made it worse, cause every other tyre shop i went said that they had to order it in! no one has stock of those tyres except the dealers...
