Default Forged Performance: GT-R E85 Build Up/Tune

We just wrapped up another GT-R project. Although I've tuned many cars on E85, this was our first GT-R. E85 continues to impress me, and what's remarkable is that the start up and overall driveability of the car is identical to petrol. Oftentimes with standalone ECU's it's a bit more of a struggle to get perfect operational manners from the engine when running E85, but the GT-R ECU using the Cobb AP Pro Tuning software took it all in stride.

We were able to make 665whp at just 20psi boost on our Dyno Dynamics dyno before running out of injector. This would be would well over 700whp on a typical domestic DynoJet. Perfect shifts and manners every single time. Total sleeper look from the outside, but a monster on the inside!

Modification List:

AMS Turbo Upgrade
AMS Catless Downpipe
CBRD Y-Pipe
HKS Legamax Exhaust
Forge Actuators
HKS EVC6 Boost Controller
HKS M-Series Spark Plugs
Greddy Front Mount Intercooler and Piping Kit with BOV's
Harmon Motive Intake
Swift Springs
Walbro 255 Twin Pump Assembly
E85 Fuel

Impressive. How much does it cost "on average" to do something like that ?

For safe daily street driving we stop right about here. 650-700whp has proven very reliable. For road course track use, I suggest no more than 600whp.

For reference, a bone stock GT-R puts down about 380-390whp on our Dyno Dynamics dyno.

That is ridiculous power, so easily obtained it seems. Nice work!

What kind of turbos does AMS use for the upgrade? Seems to spool like a GT28? Pretty quick...

According to AMS:
The AMS Turbos Utilizes machined OEM turbine and compressor housings. They are assembled with a " True Garrett GT series ball bearing center section".

The exact sizing is still unclear for now.

Like many, AMS keeps their exact turbo spec under the table. But it amounts to a high flowing GT28xx. The physical OEM exhaust and compressor housings are retained, but heavily modified to accept the new Garrett center cartridge. The compressor is rated to flow 400 lb/min worth of airflow. Based on what we've seen, this feels about right. This is a turbo that maxes out at about 750-800whp for the pair depending on the dyno.
