Default Next-gen GT-R to boast 570 horsepower

Lifted from LLN:

http://www.leftlanenews.com/nissan-gt-r-2013.html#

By Mark Kleis Monday, Sep 26th, 2011 @ 2:33 pm

Nissan just barely got finished with a round of rather extensive updates and upgrades for the 2012 model year GT-R, but they are not ready to rest on their laurels any time soon.

While 2012 saw minor cosmetic and substantial performance gains in both handling and power, 2013 is expected to receive a bevy of miscellaneous changes – including a possible power bump to over 570 horsepower, according to forum Nagtroc.

The information comes from a special testing event that was held for European press at the famous Nurburging test track with the new GT-R, during which some of the upcoming changes were discussed. Based on that, it is expected there will be no visual changes to the next GT-R, but both suspension settings and transmission programming will be tweaked (again), while underbody aerodynamic improvements have been applied, emissions reduced and power reportedly increased “by at least 40 horsepower” over the already increased 2012 number.

Both the Premium Black and Egoist editions are to be available globally for 2013.

The other big change that is reportedly coming isn’t coming at all for the American market as it is a right-hand drive-only track edition. The car will reportedly make use of special carbon fiber bits from Nissan test driver Toshio Suzuki’s own GTR tuning brand known as “Nordring.” The new bits would reportedly include Dunlop racing slicks and special light-weight Volk racing wheels.

Expect more updates and exact numbers to become available in the near future.

It's pretty routine for car companies to systematically upgrade their cars.

However, I'm of the impression that Nissan tends to do this more frequently than others.

Maybe it's just me...

So the only thing we arent getting is the track edition...however we will still have the option to get the more powerfull 2k13 setup still...

so whats the big deal?

Most of us end up modding to put wheels on and random CF peices on our own anyways...nevermind the fact that the track version will probably be overpriced to $hit

Nissan has a hand in the performance scene. They want to keep upping the ante. The R35 is a great platform. Imagine them redesigning some parts, and bringing the weight down to 3400lbs wet.

Doubtful, but the track edition could offer some nice goodies over the other models. A common thing with the Skylines, at least, was constant revision of internals (N1 models), upgrading handling and braking, etc. Will this be true with the R35 track? Meh... prob just some carbon fiber and +20hp.

I think if there is a potential track edition version of the new 2013 Nissan GTR with the possibility of RHD, the horsepower should exceed the 600 mark, the torque should be anywhere between 500-550lbs, a drastic revision in brakes and suspension, and an exterior change that distinctively separates itself from previous models of the R35 platform.

i say better brakes tighter suspension stickier tires lighter wheels and overall lower weight with 570hp is all we'll really see. I wouldn't be surprised to see this thing at over 3600lbs, which would require serious revisions. I'm pretty sure nissan used the jgtc trick of weighing the car down extra at the bottom of the chassis to lower C of G. That makes a huge impact on the abilities of this chassis. It's weird to think, but it's simple physics, you can make a car handle better by making it heavier.
