Hello everyone, I have 2007 nissan with almost 300k millage. I need to bring my car for a smog check and the check engine light came on and first I change the battery and almost replace new set of spark plug and the check engine still on. A friend of mine helped me with the OBD scan the car and it shows this code “ P0420 “ and I wonder how accurate is the OBD scanner because I don’t want to spend money on catalytic converter and it won’t pass the smog check? Thanks!

The scan tool simply reports what fault codes are stored in the car's ECU. It doesn't make things up.

 

Judging by the fact that you posted a question about your Toyota Camry in an R35 forum I'd question the operator, not the tool.

 

No shiit.. maybe he should called hooked on phonics and get his money back
