353hp/405tq @ the wheels....
That's 400+hp and 450+tq at the flywheel.

These kits will ship at the end of this month.

That's why I got rid of my 03 6MT G35 and got my 07 335i 6MT Sedan. Only option I got was the sports package for $38,500 + tax/lic/fees so it's not that much more than the new G35 when you consider the free maintanence. Even with almost no options, you still get the Logic 7 sound system and adaptive Xenons, power everything and sunroof so it's not that bad... The premium package and all the other options is not worth it....

Too bad they are uglier than a cats *******. No one cares about your f*cking BMW. Take your bragging **** back to your BMW forums. This thread is relating to a dyno of a Z. Who the hell cares what you spent on your hideous 3 series. Ok its a fast car, wheres my cookie jar when I need it? How about an LSD ? Test out the Z in a road track, it demolishes all.

The stock z loses 17% wich would bring you to around 236rwhp. Yours is 10 hp less and you probably wouldn't notice the 10hp anyway. And yes the z is SLOW stock.

Well I wouldn't have put it the same way but vanillarice19's post was a bit useless for this thread and has no relevance to the topic at hand. It was a bit like "Look at me!! Look at me!! I don't care if you guys are talking about a Z or corn...I got a new BMW!!!. Sorry dude, had to call you out too.

Wow, I don't even know where to start.....

First of all...every dyno is different, you could vary 20hp or more from one type of chassis dyno to another. So it's all a crap shoot. Dyno's don't determine a car's performance anyway.

Second, you act like it's some proven fact that Z's have 17% drivetrain loss. Where did you come up with that. I bet it just sounded good and looked to be about average with the numbers you've gotten or seen.

Third, you don't know if his car is really "underpowered" so why even make a comment about it?

And yes the z is SLOW stock.
Compared to what?? More expensive performance cars? Duh

Name a vehicle for under 30 grand sold in the united states that has significantly better power/weight ratio than the Z and traps significantly higher. The 350Z, while not fast compared to all performance cars out there is one of the quickest, most complete performance cars you can buy for under 30 grand.

To the OP...if you want to really see what your car is all about take it to the drag strip and see what you can do. If you don't have much experience, don't expect some amazing numbers, but you can get a better idea of where you stand.

Road and Track named it the "Best car under $30k for 2006." beat out the new mustang, evo rs, and a bunch of other mighty powerful cars...

So in otherwords I agree with briguymax, this is a great all-around performer for the price!

Buy a honda! If you have been considering it, then you are in the wrong place. Its not a super car, its got decent tq and looks beautiful. Buy it for that...

It is more efficient to get Z owners' opinions in Z forums than in non-Z forums.

Anyway, I was merely asking the question because lack of power in a stock configuration seems to be a common theme among Z forums I have visited.

My goal is not to buy a car based on looks but on its layout, performance potential, and how fun it is to drive. I have focused on the Z because of its reasonably good sports car layout.

I looked at the STI even though it looks like an absurd riced-out economy car. Performance was good, but the car rides like a built-up Corolla rather than a sports car--as if was simply an economy car tricked out at the factory. It seems to me that the Z should have greater handling potential even if modifications are more expensive. Owers could tell me whether that is correct.

Nissan's use of aluminum on the corners is commendable, but why does the Z still weigh as much an STI--a 4-door, AWD sedan? It is easy to get weight out of the Z?

That is exactly what it is. Best definition I have ever seen for it.

It's the shared platform. If Nissan built the Z on its own sports car platform, it would cost a hefty bit more.

To the original poster:

1. It's not all about numbers
2. Those numbers are not unreasonable
3. There is a lot of variation in dynos
4. A better test of horsepower is 1/4 mile time... post up some time slips

To everyone else:

WTF is this bickering ... this thread has outlived its usefulness so I'm closing it
