You are going to have one major uphill fight. The TSB and dealer instructions specify stock rims and tires. I really doubt anyone would replace non-stock 19's. Your having lowered it (altered the stock suspension) will give them a big out to avoid responsibility.

The biggest thing I had going for me was a bone stock, unaltered setup which could only be the factory's fault.

Good luck, but I wouldn't be optimistic about any success. Bummer.

Thanks for the reply. I kinda figured that it is going to be a uphill battle, but I'm going to try anyway. If they won't replace my tires, hopefully they'll give me a free alignment. (yeah right)

I believe it is cause by the Soft OEM front tires....

Just get harder front compound tires.....
I don't Race so i didn't care of the trade off's.....

Plus the Michelin's that I bought are of Very
high Quality.....

am now a happy camper....

I love my ZR!!!!!

I have an '04 Touring Roadster with 17' wheels and noticed minor feathering at about 7500 miles. Nissan dismounted and remounted side to side the front tires and realigned. While the feathering problem MAY have been somewhat alleviated by this, the road noise of the OEM Potenzas had always been and still remained ear shattering.

At 12,000 miles, I bought, as you did, a set of Michelin Pilot Sport All Season tires from Tire Rack. The difference in road noise is quite dramatic and I am a significant reduction in tire-related problems of any kind.

That said, making the tire change was expensive: the tires, mounting, balancing and alignment tore hell out of $1K. And I still don't drive the Z on snow or ice, the "all season" moniker notwithstanding.

ON MY 2004 ROADSTER I STARTED TO GET FEATHERING AT AROUND 5000 MILES BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALER AT 7500 AND THEY DID SEVERAL ADJUSTMENTS AND ROTATED THE FRONT TIRES, THEY SAID IF THE PROBLEM PERSISTS AFTER 1000 MORE MILES THEY WILL REPLACE THE TIRES. AT 8500 THEY REPLACED THE FRONT TIRES. AT 17000 I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND BROUGHT THE CAR IN. THE SERVICE DEPT SAID THE ALIGNMENT WAS PERFECT BUT THEY RESEARCHED IT A LITTLE MORE AND FOUND SOMETHING OUT OF ALIGNMENT BY 1/1000 OF AN INCH THEY ADJSTED AND GAVE ME 2 NEW FRONT TIRES. HOPEFULLY THAT WILL WORK. THIS IS A NEW ADJUSTMENT THAT THEY HAVE ONLY BEEN DOING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. THE DEALER I USED IS ACTION NISSAN IN NYACK, NEW YORK VERY HELPFUL AND SEEMED TO KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH THE CAR

A few weeks ago, a passenger commented on the roadster's roaring noise when breaking. I really didn't pay too much attention to it before since it gets downed out with top-down wind noise and just expecting more noise in a sports car.

At 11k miles, I took it in for maintenance at a local Nissan dealership and asked them for an alignment check. Front toe was off by .01 and .03 degrees. Rear was way off but don't remember the numbers right now. They gave me a free alignment.

Also noted was "scalloping" on the front tires but I decline "rotation". Based on current tread depth, my tires will probably last a total of 20k + miles. Planning to swap out my OEM 17" when the tires are ready for the trash heap. So the sooner they wear out the better.

So yes, tire feathering occurs on 2004.5 Roadsters too.

Here in New Zealand they dont even acknowledge there is a problem, been to 2 dealers who just said bull****, you have a lot of rubber on the road so you will get a lot of tyre noise

As mentioned earlier in this forum, I had my front tires replaced and aligned by the dealer at around 10,000 miles. Well, the roaring came back at around 20,000 miles. The dealer reluctantly agreed to once again replace the front tires and align them.

Something tells me this cycle is never going to stop.
