Bodily injury/property damage liability
Personal injury protection

See what happends if you raise your deductibles. $250 collision sounds low.

I wonder if I should get rid of emergency road serivce, car rental & travel expense, and raise the deductable to 250/500. I'm a member of AAA, that would take car of emergency road service.

I'm not sure how much roadside/rental costs monthly but it couldn't be much. I think the big impact is when you change your deductible. I have $500/$500. I could have gone with another company that has lower deductibles but the increased rates were not worth it (if you expect to get in less accidents than say one at-fault per 10 years, and maybe 1 windshield replacement/vandalization per 5 years. I guess it also depends how much you drive.

Does AAA offer insurance in your area? I just switched from State Farm to AAA and it was literally HALF the price for the same coverage.

Otherwise, 250 Comp/500 collision is pretty conservative and will save you a bit. I crack windshields too often to bump my comp up to 500 though.

Other options: Get married. Get older. Get a sex change. Move to Iowa. :P

For us it made sense to have a higher deductible (unless we start having a couple of accidents every year). The way we figured it the difference in the six-month premium equated to the difference in the deductible, so I keep the money in my pocket and don't have to spend it unless something happens.

You might want to consider doing a wrap-around policy with your homeowners and auto--my rates went down about 35%.
Also, I'm with Geico and the price drop between $250 vs $500 deductible was so low that I figured the minimal savings would be lost in the event I ever had to make a claim.
My current rates are VERY low, but I'm 57 yrs old, married, and have no secondary drivers on the ZR--not even my wife, who refuses to drive my s-tune modified car, which is perfectly allright with me.

Wow, I'm paying $525 through them, but have 50/100/50 liability, 200 comp/250 collision deductibles. What part of CA are you in?

I am with Erie Insurance, wife and I have a clean record, receive the multi-car discount, and also insure our home with them. We have no accidents or tickets, and the only claims we have made were for windshield coverage for 3 of 4 cars.

Erie has 250 per person/500 thousand per accident coverage.

When I bought my new SB AT Touring ZR in February, the rate for 12 months coverage for the ZR (listed as pleasure <8500 year) is now $698 a year on my 05 ZR. My 04 SB AT Touring ZR rate was $599.00 a year. My agent told me they have changed the "symbol rating" on the Z, hence the increase (which infers the claims & cost factors associated data trend has risen since my 04 was added last March).

Am Not complaining as I figure my rate is quite low compared to what others are paying. I would raise your deductable to $500. The road service is usually only about $4 a year, rental car about $20 a year. You could drop rental car coverage if you have other transportation. One other tip I might offer you is to list your wife as the primary driver (if you are married) which lowered my rate about $54 dollars a year on my 04 ZR.

Of course Your age and other factors affect insurance rates so you will not be able to accuarately judge rate comparisions with others.

FWIW: One thing to watch out for with Erie Insurance is if you are ever caught exceeding the speed limit by 20 MPH, they may cancel (probally will cancel) your insurance (noted in the addendum they sent, back when I added my 04 ZR), as Erie claims they normally do not insure high performance cars, and would not insure a Z for a new customer.

All of the above comments make sense. Also...if you are convicted of speeding tickets or have caused accidents you will likely pay a higher premium.
Where you live also plays a role in how much you pay. If you live in a congested area with a lot of traffic, chances are your rates will be higher.
How much you drive is also taken into consideration. If you drive less than 10,000 miles a year, you will likely pay a lower rate.
Who lives in your household and additional drivers may also impact on your insurance rate. If there is a likely driver in your house with a bad driving record, chances are you'll pay more.
lol

Default I'm with USAA too...

and I pay $1000 every 6 months for 25/50/25, $500 Collision/$50 Comp deductable.

And that is the LOWEST rate where I live...

I'm 35 with no tickets or accidents within the last 7 years...

USAA is great. I pay 940 every 6 months for my me and my wife on a 2004 tahoe and 2004 ZR.

When I was younger increasing the deductible always made the largest difference.

You could always slap a Yugo emblem on the hood of your car and see if they go for it... Would save you lots of money

I would probably raise the deduct's to $500.. should bring it down some
