Even the makers say its safe on car's exterior:

to be safe..use the Goo Gone ' Automotive' , even though i used the standard one and it was fine

like i said, im not testing it on the exterior. i did in fact use the regular goo gone to remove that stupid *** blue dot on my rims. it took it off and its paint.
