It's a matter of personal opinion. I like the lines of the coupe better. I've owned a convertable in the past and it was fun the days I put the top down but for the $ I prefered the coupe when it came time to buy the Z.
I'd go for the coupe also. The roadster is noisier then the coupe. I don't care for the lines of the Z with the top up. Had a lot of rag tops in my life and had leaks, color fading through age, wind noise, and failure of top working right. People who are looking to buy a rag top, should look at it as a long term investment. There may be problems in the future with convertables after so many miles. That's why I grew tired of them.
Bought a SB 05 touring coupe and love it! Well that's my opinion.

Biased or not, no one cares what they think, they are not the one driving YOUR car. What's most important is that the owner enjoys the car and enjoys the look. Don't ever judge your car based on what on what some other people think of it.
roadster's rear end looks terrible, no matter if you have the top down or up, it DOES NOT look more exotic..to tell you the truth, it looks unfinished, like they designed it in a couple of days and released it just to make some extra cash. the Z roadster was designers' brainfart. Thanks Nissan for messing up the Z line with a half-*** designed roadster.
Please, go ahead and flame me as much as you want, ZR owners, but the car looks ****in horrible.

terrible? unfinished? half-a$$? ****in horrible?
Everyone has different tastes I guess...personally I dont think either looks extremely good...but to label the roadster as horrible ...
I don't think the coupes rear look any better, different, but not better IMO
Wow...the coupe guys are so full of hatred towards the roadster. Since you guys are being so nice...I'll throw my piece in. You coupe guys are a dime a dozen...and you don't stand out at all on the road. The roadster is very rare on the road and it STANDS out. Top up its 50/50 whether somebody likes it or not (although everybody I know says it looks great), but with the top down...its simply badass. You coupe guys are just bitter that you don't get all the oohs and ahhs anymore but us roadster guys still get'em...LOL.
visionboy happened to post an agle in which I think both cars look pretty similar. Even in that shot, I prefer the coupe, but it's not as noticeable. It's more the side profile that bugged me (and a head to head shot would show that). It is personal preference, nothing more, no one is right or wrong.
I don't see hated, and your post is juvenile. That said...
My coupe isn't run of the mill dime a dozen. It stands out on the road, more than many convertibles do, and I get constant oohs and ahhhs, heh. If I did what I did to my coupe to a roadster, it would probably get the same.
As I said, all roadsters are great in many ways (even a Yugo convertible has plus points), however can't someone have a preference in terms of looks and body style?
If they would have designed it with a hump or slope in back of the seats, or at least something besides a large flat trunk that seems too long, I think it would have been better.
Like I said, I didn't think the front end was that great with either car (which is why I changed it). Overall, I find the stock cars a bit on the bland side (coupe or convertible). If I could change the back end somehow (and could find gated parking at work, heh) then I would have gone for the convertible.

ew..
ZC looks different AND better.
One of the main reasons I didn't bother with the roadster (and have never bought any other convertible for that matter) is safety. If you get hit by a larger vehicle or have a roll-over accident, good luck in the convertible.
It would be bad enough in the coupe. Plus I like to drive aggressively in the canyons when conditions permit, and you simply never know whats going to happen.
