Default help - opinions needed

Let me first say, I have not done my research, but I have fallen in love. I have a plat silver '04 touring roadster in my driveway on bailment from the dealer. They gave me a copy of kbb saying its worth $35K (i just realized this is a retail figure) and they want $32 bones for it. Appears to be in great condition with 16,800 miles on it, 6 speed. One previous owner. I have it for the weekend and have a ton of homework ahead of me. I'm a patient woman and can wait for the right buy. I do not have a problem with handing the keys back over on Monday, but just wondered what the overall thoughts are on these figures and the 04's. I could always wait and go for something new or an 05, too.

Now is a good time to look into closeouts on 2005s...might want to check into that first before going used, depending on your $$$ situation.

Again, a few grands isn't worth saving. Get the 05' or 06'(Best equipped so far) ZR If I were you. I would never buy used car over $15k.

I can’t think of anything rational about owning a performance sports car. The decision isn't quite the same as a Toyota Carmy vs Honda Accord. If you turn the key, and the sound puts a big smile on your face, go for it.

If you can afford it, for the price difference, I would get a new 05 or 06. Two reasons:
1. Full warranty
2. The earlier 04 models may have more problems then the later ones. Check if you have two ***** for the driver's seat or one. One **** is the earlier version. See attached picture.

And yes, we know why you have fallen in love. So have we. And it's a very good thing.

I have two *****! Thanks for the picture. The thing is - this is going to be a second vehicle and I'm having difficulty with spending more $$. Seems like another 8K for a new one..

Two ***** is good news. Nissan fixed most of the early problems by then. Good luck with you new love. Let us know what you ended up with and post a picture.

I bought my '04 touring roadster (6 speed) a year ago from a local dealer for $32,000. It had 3,000 miles on it, no nav system and was in pristine condition. Originally they wanted closer to 35, but came down when they thought I wasn't interested enough. I think that since they were heading into winter they were eager to sell it before the cold weather set in. It was more money than I wanted to spend at the time but I've not regretted the purchase for a moment.

Thanks, Delaine! That's good info. Today is the day and I'm planning to hand her back over and wait for a better deal - for them to come off the price more or for the next one!

And remember that 04's started coming out in 03. So that car is already (potentially) 2 years old.

There are tons of ZR's out there so just keep looking unless they can drop the price to $30k.
