Default Z's front tire feathering/cupping

Hey guys

Im looking into purchasing a z roadster and I read about all this feathering problem which nissan cant do much about except paying for the tires.

Im wondering if this problem can be fixed with aftermarket parts and if you guys are still experiencing the feathering/cupping problem?
I dont really know whats causing the problem but those of you who arent having this problem, what changes have you made to the car?

And does anyone know if this problem has been fixed for 2005 and 2006 models?

I tried to do search but it doesnt work.

Thanks for your help

at about 7k miles the dealer had the feathered front tires replaced under warranty(03 6sp)and realigned the front end with new spec. Now at 20k miles, i'm glad to see the roaring and feathering issues are gone and the replacement bridgestone tires are fine.

Most regions have a warranty extension to cover any issues here.

Im pretty sure for the most part the problem has been solved... I had Nismo Suspension / Afatermarket Rims & Tires put on my car when I bought it so I never experienced this problem myself...

From what I've seen it mostly affected 03's and some 04's

Thats good to hear, so basically it was just incorrect wheel allignment?

I thought it was something more serious because I read a few car reviews on this car and all mentioned this problem and has anyone seen this site www.nissantireproblems.com

Built2shredz - when you say the problem has been solved, do you mean that they fixed the problem in the 05-06 models or they found a fix for the 03-04?

Can I ask you what size rims and tyres you got?

According to Nissan it was an alignment issue with 03's and some 04's. The original alignment was to aggressive for the tires which caused the feathering. They sent out a TSB for it so dealerships could use a less agressive alignment so tires would last longer. So this basicaly fixed the problem with the 03's and 04's.... Far as I know the changed alignment specs went out from the factory on the 05's and 06's

The information on that web site if fairly old... Im pretty sure its fixed, I really don't see complaints about feathering in the forums anymore since the TSB came out with the new alignment specs.
