Default nobody likes buying a roadster?

Im new and have never known that there are forums like this for 350z owners. I was trying to look for ways to sell my car without having to pay to post ads. ANyways, i have been looking through the car classifieds and i noticed that nobody responds to the people who are selling a roadster. IS there something wrong with roadsters that repels buyers? I have an 04 roadster base model and i am looking to sell it. Im just wondering if anyone knows why there are rarely any buyers for them...

I have an 04' Grand Touring Roadster and love it...Aerodynamics is always an issue when you have a convertible, because of the drag the open top creates. Other than that, I love it.

EDIT: typo...03' roadster

in 04 there wasn't a "Grand touring" model for the roadsters...05 there was.

Maybe it's because people see the roadsters like an exotic car...to expensive for the avarage "Joe".

We are the select and chosen few able to handle driving ZR's...having women throw their bra and panties at us as we drive by, takes some skill.

LOL U got that right

One reason I think the average person might not buy a roadster is that they have never owned one! or they think the maint of the top is exps (which it is ) if you are not under warranty> I think it costs like 3000$ to replace the top if its f888ucked up.

Good luck selling ur ZR.

btw U R u selling the Z MAN.?????

Yeah I think there are a lot of false perceptions about roadsters. Such as, it must be cold inside with that soft top, or you can't drive it in the winter.

I wasn't planning on buying a ZR originally, just a normal Z. When I saw one in the autotrader (with 3000KM) that was only $4K more than a new Z I decided to test drive it and never looked back....

Because there are less ZRs on the road, it keeps it's value and is more expensive as a used car then the coupe. If you look at the coupes being sold by members on this site, they are having a hard time selling their Zs also. It may have something to do with the price of premium gas.

Enthusiast sites rarely sell cars. People on these forums take pride in their vehicles and often ask too much money. Also, it's free to post here, and if you REALLY want to sell a car, you use autotrader or the newspaper. I've never had luck selling cars on forums; parts yes; cars no.

In addition, the Roadsters go for $4-5k more, and a lot of the die-hard enthusiasts prefer the performance of the coupe. Although when test driving 3 coupes and 1 ZR; I felt they were all comparable. However, it was night and day as far as 'cool' factor.

not too many people willing to shell out $30k for a used car IMO.

i got my ZR all becos it's a vert and it's the only reason i bought it. i plan to keep it as long as it runs like i'm riding on a roller coaster.

yeah im thinking about selling my Z but im still iffy on it. Do you guys think 25k is too much to ask for for a base model? it has low mileage cause i rarely get to drive it. I have a beater car that i drive to work.

ZR is really a different class of car. A two seater convertible is usually bought as an "extra" toy on top of people's other reasonable transportation. It is also rare....5000 produced worldwide annually. Most people who can afford this type of toy want to buy new since the used value is so high anyway. In fact, the ZR has the highest percent resale value of any convertible in current production. That will be good in a number of years when the price falls within reach of others, but since the car is so new at this point, might as well spend the little extra and buy new.

Wow I didn't know it was the best value holding convertible.

I picked up an 04 with 29k miles for $27k (the dealer was asking $29k). It's a fully loaded enthusiast (minus nav). I'm nearly certain the sticker was $38k+. It has BOSE, leather, dual power seats, dual heated seats, homelink, electrochromatic mirror, computer guage thingy, TCS, climate control, etc.

It also has Nissan 350Z Track wheels (with a real high quality chrome job. At first I was iffy on the chrome, but with the car being silver they really look nice and I get a lot of compliments). I figure the wheels alone are worth 2k at least.

Although I initially thought $27k was a lot for a used 350Z, when you factor in the $38k sticker, two years old, MINT condition in and out, wheels, and decent mileage it really seemed like a good deal. I bought my G35 new and felt the majority of the depreciation. I think the ZR will hold its value strong (if I can find a buyer for it when I want to sell).

Roadsters are better, got mine for 36k. By the way, I think yellow gives it that extra exotic look on top of being a convertible. I love my car.

My buddy had a yellow S2000 and I thought it looked weak, but yours looks real good.
