Angry sliced my top

Came back to the airport parking lot the other day only to find that someone made three cuts all the way through my top. It is on the panel near the passenger door and no other panels were cut. Anyone know if this can be fixed anywhere in the Dallas area. I got an estimate of 2800 to replace the top.

There is simply no way to repair the top and have it look right, you have to replace the top. You can do it yourself, but believe me, in the end (it took me 8 hours on my last car), you'd be happy to pay someone to do it.

About thirty years ago an old guy told me to never lock my convertible. He said, "Better they open the doors and see that there's nothing inside than to slice up the top to find out the same thing".

Sorry about the vandalism. You filed a police report of course? And you have insurance.

Definitely agree, I would go insurance route on this one. Assuming you have comprehensive coverage, the deductible for this is usually $250 - $500, much less than the $2,800 you were quoted.

Sorry to hear about it, like others have said, it's really not reparable without replacement.

Yeah, I used to live that way with my 76 Spitfire, didn't even have door keys for it. Some moron sliced the top anyway, then opened the doors to find nothing inside, losers.

Please tell us what is the name of the parking company you were using where this happened. Was it one of the off airport facilities, or at a DFW owned lot. I use Dallas Park Air Express at Esters & 183, & haven't had any vandalism problems there (yet).

I've often considered leaving my doors unlocked during extended parking but I find it hard to do that. Perhaps leaving the cubby holes open (and empty) will suffice at the airport. I've even considered leaving a message on my seat stating that there are no valuables in the car but I'm not sure if that would do any good.

Damn that sucks!!!! But thanks for the info...Just bought my first convertible this last Saturday and I tend to leave my wallet in my car....And just this afternoon when I went to the local pharmacy, I left my $250 D&G sunglasses (inside the case of course) in the passenger seat!!!....I will never do that again after knowing that they could slice up the roof like that.....Thxs man

You can get a fair replacement top on ebay from time to time for 100 to 150.[usually warranty replacement for the pinhole issue or similar]
I did get one as a spare.. was in excellent condition.
Temp fix , use vinyl patch.
