premature brake wear
my 04 roadster has 9,000 miles and when I took it in for its oil change advised service of a squeaking problem now they tell me the brakes are gone and have some rotor damage. I drive it short distance to work 6 miles to and from, rare freeway driving no stop & go traffic. anyone else having this problem?

I had the problem at 13'000 miles. Not real sure of why, they just told me they wore down and it was covered under warranty. I asked if this happened often or should I expect it to happen at 26'000 miles they said " That it doesn't happen often blah blah" and tried to elude to me driving it to hard as the problem.

if you don't have the service manual, i suggest to spend the $300 and buy it. it will have all measurments needed especially in the case of rotor wear. I just replaced my pads at 32,000 and the rotors were worn really thin. the wear limit is 22 mm and this is important to have in your back pocket so u dont get shafted. i was able to get one cut of a resurface done and will need to buy new rotors at ~60k. Continuing to buy new rotors every 9,000 miles sounds absolutely ridiculous regardless of driving style....

I have a 2004 Roadster with 30,000 miles. I just had my mechanic check out my brakes. He said they were about half gone and I would probably need some new pads around 55,000 miles.

I think brake wear really depends on the driver...
Me and my brother inlaw both had 2000 preludes his was an automatic mine was a 5MT, It took me about 38k miles before I went thru my first set of brakes, he had to replace his at 16k... When I rode with him he was a very aggresive driver, always tail gating and hitting his brakes... When I tried to point this out to him he was like in total denial.. He swears he drives the same way I do LOL
