I've sent a PM to GodZilla to voice my top problems. We need to get organized. These threads should all be a sticky...just like charlie said!!

Well, I went in yesterday, as my warranty is up on the 15th (Sunday). My dealer told me that he can't do a thing, because the top is only warranteed for the first year. Told me to call 1 800 NISSAN1 and talk to them. I did. They said they will call a top repair shop(?) and then have that shop call Nissan, and then I will hear from Nissan!?

I did get a call today from Nissan, but they were closed when I saw the voice mail and tried to call back. Meanwhile, I looked inside my car and noticed the pinholes I have been hearing about here. I have had a lot of rain here lately (Nor'Easters), I live at the beach. Anyway, I can't figure out how I do not have water in the car!!!

Nissan never stated they would fix it, only that they would check into it and call me. I guess I'll find out what they plan on doing tomorrow. Glad I saw this thread and called, not knowing the warranty was just 4 days away.

I'll post my results when I get them

Yeah, never even thought of that. I'll see what Nissan says and try another dealer tomorrow just for the heck of it!

Thanks! Just got home from the dealer...my part # is 97150CE 40A
I asked them about the 97150-CF40A, they said that they did not show that part # according to my vin # and year, 04. You must have the new top & I must have the old version.....I do have tint on the rear glass window.

I dont think the top is covered under the extended warranty. Thats what the dealer told me about my top. Its considered something like weather stripping. But dealer is replacing my top anyways.

Mine is still under the regular 3 year warranty. I also want to mention that the Service Rep for Nissan is coming to my dealer tomorrow and hopefully I'll have some info to share. Since my Z was their for the top replacement, I had them change my oil..they did not charge me for the oil change because of all the delays on the top replacement. This dealer has really shown their respect for their customers.....they really want to satisfy!
Also the paint chip was taken care of and I could not tell any difference.

my top doesnt close so well... gotta stop halfway and grab the lever and lower it down both manually and w/ the power button.

the driver side latch isnt securely being locked when i lock my top closed.

i was driving about 70mph and saw the driver side of the top being lifted by the wind!!!

potentially dangerous!!!

Finally got over to my brothers house, after parking my car next to his the tops are identical, so they just put on the same top design as his old one

I swore I thought it was different but its the same

Yeah, I was afraid of that. The new Z roadsters on the sales lot were the same design, too. Looks like we're stuck with no permanent factory solution.

Well, I had my ZR at the dealer's today for an oil change and also had them look at the top. They concluded that the top needed replacing so they have ordered a new one (not sure of the part number). The seam separation is very minor and I am hesitant to have it replaced after reading some of the issues that others have had. They already told me that they will be outsourcing the install and that makes me even more concerned. But, I am afraid that the seam split will continue to grow and eventually start to leak when it rains so I guess I don't really have a choice.
