Default Blinking RPM question

Ok, Ima newb, ill admit it! This is my 2nd Z, my first was a old 280z way way long time ago. But anyway...my PSI light was blinking, and I knew what that was. I had read most of the manual and already knew what needed to be done. But just a few days my RPM light started blinking. I have read the manual and found nothing on it. I was near the Nissan dealership and stop to ask about it. I talked to the saleman who sold me the car and he didnt know why it blinked. It was kinda late and there service section was closed. I do know that setting the rpm past 7600 allows the red square to not light up for shifting. But I dont know why it now blinks RPM. It does it all the time. ANy help appreciated.

It blinks at approximately 500 RPM before the the configured RPM. When it reaches the set RPM, it goes solid.

Default Um.....

ok, still a little confused.
The RPM was never there before. So what did I do to make it pop up? and is there a way to make it go back to it not there? Its set for 7700 since anythng after 7600 disables the light function for shifting.

I set mine to 6600 rpm...that way i use it as a shift light...

The light will start flashing at 6100 rpm warning you to shift and turn solid (stops flashing) and stays on at 6600 rpm..

I use this when im driving on the track or spirited, to warn me when its time to shift.

You can set it to blink whenever you want it to warn you to shift at whatever works best for you. For me it was 6600..it could be different for you...but whereever you set it...it flashes 500rpms before your set point...and turns solid at your setpoint.

Default I dont think you all are talking about same thing I am.

I understand how to use the plus/minus to adjust the rpm from 2000-8000.
And anything below 7600 will make the light blink red to know when to shift.

The problem I seem to have is the actual Trip Meter itself. There is a icon light that blinks that says "RPM" that wont stop blinking. It blinks always. Stopped, speeding, high rpms, low rpms, engine off but with key on.....And it never did this when i first started driving my car.

Does this make any sense?

can you take a picture of it and post it on here? I'm not sure I understand what you mean if its not the shiftlight... from what you are describing, it sounds like the shift light, but i'm not sure why it would blink like what you are describing unless something is wrong....you may need to take it in to the dealer and have the service guys check it out to see whats up....
