Default Roadster top

Hi Everyone.

I just recently picked up on '04 Roadster. I live in Toronto and just put the car away today for the winter. Can't wait for Spring...

As I was putting the car away in the underground I noticed that the seam where the portions of the top meet in the back has come away everso slightly. When I looked underneath there is a small pinhead sized hole. It does not look like a concern right now but is there anything I can do to protect it from getting larger?

As I mentioned, the car is not covered for the winter so it's not like I am going to do anything about it now.

Also, anyone one ever put in a switch to turn off the passenger side airbag? I read in the manual that you can put one in. Anyone have a cost in Canadian $$. I really want to do it if it is reasonable as my kids are young and I can't take them anywhere in the car the way it is now.

Thanks.

Take it to the dealer before your warranty runs out. Theres a TSB on the 04 tops. They should replace it.

Sorry...TSB?

Also, I am assuming I can take it to a local dealer even though I live in Toronto and got the car from Atlanta?

Zmancan,

I heard it is about $300 in most California shops. Co-worker had it done.

Let me know how it goes.

Technical Service Bulletin

I don't see a TSB for the seam split issue, but it is a warranty item. I do agree with zand02max and would suggest that you take it in prior to the warranty expiring. You should be able to take it to any authorized Nissan Service Center. You probably already have looked through this thread.

I took my roadster to the dealership in summer after I noticed it and they had it replaced right away, no questions asked.

I took mine in on the last day of my warranty and they replaced the top... It only took them two days to do it.

Hey, I have a roadster too in Toronto. Air bag costs a lot. You should reconsider. About your top you could just go to any Nissan dealers that's close to you and ask them about the warrenty. I usually take mine at St Clair's Nissan. But I live up north. They are pretty good. Hope this helps. Goodluck

Just adding to what these other guys have said....take it to a dealer before the warranty runs out. They should replace it now and I would advise not to wait. Do a research here and you'll see all the problems with the ZR tops!
Good Luck!

Fix this through warranty. I havn't heard of anyone doing this outside warranty but its probably expensive. I did mine at performance nissan in Toronto.

Just had mine replace in Nov, again no questions asked for the exact same seam issue. Mine was minimal separation too, just barely beginning. Definitely don't wait, that's an expensive replacement to pay for yourself.

Default update

Checked with Nissan to make sure my car is still under warranty which it is. I will take it in to get the top replaced. I am assuming there won't be an issue as this is obviously not a new problem that they have not heard about before.
