I just placed an order through Summit.....does anyone have one or know of how hard or easy it is to install?

my buddy had a Jetta and performance shop had to drop the whole tranny to install the b&m shifter... ....I hope that's not the case with Z's.....

any opinions will be helpful and thanks in advance........

Cancel your order as fast as you can. Trust me, I went through 2 of these POS shifters in 6 months...they will rattle like hell I guarantee it. I went back to stock after this fiasco. Do a search there are a TON of people who have had the exact same problem with it.

I've heard SOME bad feadback on this item, but the bad didn't out weigh the good.

Very easy install. In fact there is a pretty nice DIY posted around here somewhere. Do some searches to find it. MOST of the people love the results. The people that have issues so far that I've actually talked to have messed something up in the install themselves, that when they corrected the unit was fine. OR there was a problem with the item that they received and B&M happily replaced it for them. Once their new one was installed they loved it too. Not sure where all this bad mojo is commin from.

I say install it man. It'll only take an hour or two out of your day and you'll probably like it. If not, resell it on here...you'll only lose about $10-$30 off what you paid, but you'll know at least whether you like it or not.

My .02.

This particular shifter has been listed on the thread for "What Mods do you regret?" I was interested in this item as well, and I remember reading the thread and Jason@performancenissan posted this particular shifter as a mod he regretted getting. That kind of had a ring of truth in it, why would a vendor downplay an item they sell?

EDIT: Oh sorry, you already ordered it. Well I'm interested in your opinion of it once it's installed. As for installation, it is supposed to be a snap. However, I did find a post on this where there was some filing necessary to make it fit just right.

returned to sender........ .......
found-out it's not a snap-on installation....car needs to be lifted in order for me to get to the link bolt.....and yes......there's a section that has to be filed-off for 5th, 6th, and reverse to work properly.....

if it's installed right, it supposed to work beautifully........

it's just too much work if you ask me!!!........

don't get me wrong.....i still love B&M products.....just not this one......

Meh...heaven forbid every mod not be direct bolt on.

I don't mean offense by this statement, I know it's not for everyone and can be a little intimidating when you're getting into mods that actually require MODification. Just part of the hobby I figure.

The product is as great as described once it's installed. I know there are plenty of people out there as well who will vouch for it.

i may come-off as a kindda lazy person when it comes to modification.....
please don't get me wrong, i LOVE working on my car day-in day-out....hour-in hour-out.....i spend a ton of money and endless hours working on it......

things like "short-shifter" should be a easy bolt-on installation and it has been for my previous cars.....just not for the Z i guess......

but that's just my opinion......

and as i get older...... .......i simply look for easy-way out on lot of things.....
