Default Whats up with the 07 hood?

Hi, I just saw in other threads the new 07 Zs with the new bulge in the hood.

I wasn't expecting this one.

What is the reason for the new hood bulge?

Is it simply cosmetic or is there a new component in the motor ?

I believe the HP is the same for 07 as well..?

Thanks!

i will tell you why! because all these boys only tell you to SEARCH!! which is pretty rude if you ask me... what happened to those people who want to help others out from the goodness of their heart!> ne ways the new gay hoods are because of the engine.. and HP is increased in the 07 so it is made to accomidate the new HP, perhaps the engine is bigger. ?

I agreed with up until the "gay hood" comment. Yes, I'm discovering that there are a ton of self-righteous ego maniacs on this forum and their post count is supposed to assert some kind of "alpha male" dominance. high school.

The hood bump is to accomodate the new inake system. In previous models, most people get a plenum spacer because air was not being properly routed to the front. Nissan made the engine fit the car in '03-'06. For '07, Nissan decided to make the car fit the engine. The engine is the same 3.5L, it is not "bigger," per se. There is a twin-intake system and some revised interior materials. Here's a link for basic info: http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....&page_number=5

I'm a member of another forum for my RX8. And as in most forums, they have their share of d!ckheads as well. The difference is most will actually try to help you vs. most calling you a "newb" and answering everything with "search." First of all, the search feature is not that sophisticated. I've tried searching on this site and being new to the 350z, key words are hard to forumlate. Second of all, if the "senior" members are tired of answering the same quesitons over and over, then don't even post! You bastards will take the time to post "search newb" but won't take a few extra moments to help out a fellow Z owner? Lame. These are the same people who used to pull wings off of flys because their uncles molested them and got beat up all the time in school. Online, they are mighty tough guys because they'll never have to answer for their comments. cowards, the lot of em.

Phantom...excellent comments and pretty accurate. I just bought a members 350Z and am searching out what's next on the car. I am also on another forum for my other car and there are a ton of the same kind of punks who blog simply because their ********* seem to grow exponentially while cloaked by nicknames and a monitor.

I can tell you for sure that the hood modification was for the new intake and the aftermarket requests for a bit more room for what they have in store. I have a bunch of clients at Nissan and the poop was that it was a necessary mod.

Fooshe,
I, personally, thank you for your insight and awareness of e-testosterone. Perhaps you, myself, and a few other--not so into ourselves--owner's can help each other out in tough jams. After all, that is what this site was inteneded to be--a resource for Z owners. If we should have any issues, we shouldn't feel isolated and confused because of our communication and eagerness to lend a helping hand or word for that matter.

Hood bulge is also a retro styling thing, harking back to the 240z. As are the new colours.

True, true. Aesthetics are all a matter of taste. I am not knocking you at all. And you being female has nothing to do with any knowlege or lack-thereof you may or may not have about cars. I know plenty of female mechanics that will stupify me when talking about cars. So give yourself some credit. I think if they put some vents or something at the base of the "hump" then it probably wouldn't turn people off as much. IMHO, I like the new hood. Also, I understand it to be a performance mod, not an aesthetic one. Many could argue that gutting your interior and putting in a non-reclining "electric chair" looking seat is ugly. Roll cages are ugly. The sound of a heavily tuned car at idle sounds ugly, etc, etc.

But as you can see, most do it anyways. I just don't see how a hood-bump could look "homosexual," as you posted above...

Here here!! Had the same problem with my thread regarding a problem I was having...if you know of another thread with the info requested, help your fellow forum member out!! I mean, what the hell...we all come to these forums looking for ideas or other peoples input...if I wanted to be snuffed and ridiculed, I'd asked some average joe on the street (actually, maybe I'd get a BETTER response since you guys would get to see me in person! )

btw...just looked up the '07 Z...that hood...ehhh!! The Z is looking more and more bubbly, imo...we own Z's, not Miata's, not Boxters.
Personally, I like a more square, cut style.

80% percent different engine and therefore it sits differently in the engine bay. they compensated by making the hood bigger.

I'm pretty sure she meant Gay as in Lame looking....

Personally I haven't used the term "Gay" in that meaning since I was back in High school... But it is still a popular term with younger generations to mean something is lame.....

I know the Homosexual crowd does not like people using the word "gay" in that way, since the word also refers to there lifestyle. Even though the word "gay" originally meant "happy". The Homosexual crowd took the word and gave it a different meaning... Something they have also done with "rainbows" and the color "purple" which according to them also means homosexual...

I just find it Ironic that they can change the meaning of words but nobody else can...

I think it looks alright and definitely has a lot of potential for aftermarket hoods. Get that thing in carbon fiber with the shark gill vents, or the classic muscle reverse cowl induct opening. Heck yeah.

My memory is a little foggy right now as to how it really looks, but without re-looking, it kinda reminds me of a mini stillen supercharger hood. Like I said, I haven't seen it in a while so I may be way off.

On another note...I am seeing more and more immaturity in the forums A LOT lately and I've come to the conclusion that it is simply because this model has been out for a few years now and the little teeney boppers are able to afford the used ones without mommy and daddy's help too much. Naturally they go to where the knowledge base is, but for some reason feel the need to express senority over the same members who shared their knowledge with them in the first place.

+ 1000. I'm not a newb, but I have been a member for 5 years. I just don't post very much. You hit it right on the head about the "post ******" who answer every post with a smart *** comment. Certain members with 15,000 or more posts jump on everyones *** every chance they get. It just isn't necessary.
