Default Has anyone purchased the extended warranty?

I just got a 2004 ZR. It has 28,000 miles and the factory warranty ends on 6/2008. I know that repairs can be really expensive. Does everyone get the extended warranty?

I bought one when I got the car new.... I figure it was worth it because if the motor or gears for the top failed it would be costly to fix...

Extended warranties are insurance. No different than car, life or home owners insurance. You buy it in case of what if. You did not mention if this is a Nissan Warranty or an aftermarket warranty company. No matter who the warranty company is you want to know exactly what they are covering and what they will pay and what you will have to pay. Most extended warranties are "PART SPECIFIC". If the part is not mentioned, it's not covered. If it's an aftermarket warranty company, it's real important to know who they are and will they be around when you need them. There are many fly by night warranty companies out there that will gladly take your money and not be around when you need them. That being said, I have factory extended warranties on most of my cars, including my 04 roadster. If possible it's always a plus to get a warranty that is transferable should you sell your car. It's definitely a selling point when selling your car privately. A few years ago I bought a 91 300zx from the second owner. He bought an extended warranty good for 100k (I forgot what the mileage deal was) when he bought the car used from a Nissan dealer. The warranty was sold by the dealer but was not a Nissan warranty, it was an aftermarket warranty. Anyway, I had an electrical problem that shorted out all of the wiring harnesses. They all had to be replaced. Three months and $4200 later I got my car back. The warranty covered all but the $50 deductible. Keep in mind this car was 10 years old when this happened and it was all covered. The other things to consider are, how long do you think you will keep the car and what's the cost of the warranty. There is no right/wrong. It's whatever you are comfortable with. Good luck.

I just bought a leftover 06ZR. I bought the extended warranty. The only reasons I bought it was because I get free oil changes for life.
Only had if for a week so I don't have any pics yet to post.
