When my Z gets here, my plan was to keep her garaged with the top down since she will not be my daily driver and will be garaged and used mostly on weekends. But, sounds like this might be bad for the top. Agree or disagree?

IMHO...I would keep the top up when stored in the garage...It's good for the top...wrinkles come out very easily and most of all...avoiding the air pollutants settling in the interior & maybe avoiding some small creatures to roam about.

The hotter the day the quicker they come out. Catch 22 since the direct sun is tough on vinyl.

They can be and will be as the wrinkel is a stressing of the vinyl and will become a crack eventually. There is no easy approach to the soft tops except to look after them as best you can and save for the replacement.

rOmey...were not talkin' about wrinkles being a problem....everyone should know that once something is folded, a wrinkle will appear later...the big issues have been:
1. pinholes in the top material
2. separation at seams, either front, sides or rear.
3. plastic re-enforcements coming through the top material
4. top motor problems & tonneau problems

Do a research especially in the roadster forum....I've made a lot of comments from my personal experiences and I also posted on earlier threads going back to '04 other members issues with this top problem. Some guys have had 3 tops replaced!
IMHO it is still a very serious problem!!

BTW, the WHOLE TOP is what costs $2-3k to replace; the FABRIC part which was causing most folks' problems only costs a few HUNDRED to replace.
Really? Do you have the part number for the fabric? Where did you find it? Only one I can find was about $1050.
