Default 05 Roadster for $22K?

Need some help/advice. I am new here and am thinking about getting a 350Z. I cannot afford a new Z, so I have to go with used. I have been looking around for a few months and I just found an 05 Roadster with 39K miles listed for $23K (at a dealer). The only problem is that it is an automatic, and I would prefer a manual. Aside from the auto trans, does this sound like a good deal? KBB says the car could go for as high as $25K (at a dealer). I don't know how to tell the condition of the top and don't know how to look for the "top problems" that have been mentioned on this site -- it seemed to look fine to me. The car seems to drive fine and appears to be in perfect (cosmetic) shape. I also checked carfax, and it says everything is fine (no mention of a top replacement, though).

What are your thoughts? Is this a good deal? Thanks!

It sounds like a good deal to me. I'd hate the fact its an auto. to each is own... check the threading on the top.

I think I would wait for a manual transmission. You will regret it later if you go with the auto.

Thanks for the replies and the advice. I went back to look at it again and told the dealer I will probably hold off until a M/T becomes available. I have a strong feeling that I will end up feeling that I should have got an M/T... I can be a control freak at times.

The dealer said that a M/T would probably add around $1K more! Do you think this is just "by my car right now" talk, or is a M/T more rare -- and therefore can demand a $1K premium on a 2005 model?

you should be able to get an 05 ZR A/T Enthusiast with lower mileage than that for around $22k or maybe a little less.

I think your instincts are correct. It sounded like salesman BS to get you to buy the car. You are wise to hold off and wait until you find what it is you really want, and not what the salesman wants to sell you.
That price is pretty good. If that Roadster was a Touring, that's make it an even better deal.
Good luck in your search and be patient.
