We decided against tint on our roadster. Either the top is down AND THE WINDOWS ARE DOWN, or the top is up and the windows are up because I'm stuck in the rain or there was an unexpected cold chill. No need, IMHO, to tint the roadster given the poor visibility as it is with the top and windows up.

Convertible rule: top down = windows down.

Unless you drive a Sebring ... otherwise for all other drop tops this is a Must.

Yay getting mine tinted today.

I am just doing the 3 normal windows, but I was wondering...for the little rear "window"/piece of glass visible when the top is down that is between the seats...has anyone ever tinted that or seen it done? I mean, obviously there's not much of a point besides looks, but I was wondering if it would look sleeker or stealthier if it was done, or would it junk up the car and make it look crowded?

Mine came out great! I did super dark/limo on my 2 sides and top rear window, and I think it looks great. I just hope I don't get pulled over with them up.

I got quotes of $160 and $120, but the guy who did mine ended up charging me $100, which was really nice. Took about 40 minutes as well. They are 3M tints and he said they are guarenteed not to bubble or turn purple or any other ghetto business as long as I don't clean them with ammonia.

I did it because I think it looks bada$$ and I don't people looking in my car and seeing stuff laying on my seat (which I never do actually), seeing the Nav I don't have yet, or seeing the piles and piles of money I don't have yet.
I wanted to do my tints before I got Nav because I don't want to give someone any more reason to rip my top open. I think it also keeps the car a bit cooler too!

I would go with the tint, just in case it rains you'll have the windows and top up, and when you have it park, the windows will be up and you'll keep some sun out, unless you like people looking inside, and looking at your face while you drive in the rain and stopped at a traffic light.

Like some here I got 20% on sides and rear glass. I also got 50% on the front windshield. You really never notice its there until you drive a car that doesn't have front windshield tint directly into the sun. It helps a lot and especially if you ever have to park car outside on a hot summer day buttoned up tight. (I never leave mine open if away from the car)

I just got mine done, 35% which is the darkest you can do in Queensland Australia. It looks great, is a heap cooler and I dont feel like Im in a fishbowl.
Very please with the tint.

Tinted my GT Roadster at the Dealer to max allowed in Texas. Looks great and interior does not bake as much (use factory sun shade on windshield when parked).

It's called a Rear Wind Deflector and it's quite functional.

I was going to get the rear wind deflector tinted but the shop said that since the "Z" is raised on the window it could cause a bubble around the emblem and not look that good. So I passed on it.

I know of three tints you can get done to the Windscreen:
1. You get the strip of film along the top of the screen which works as a sun visor.
2. You get a clear film over all the screen that is UV protective, stops your hands and arms getting sunburned and the dash getting damaged.
2. You can get a security film over all the windscreen that stops thrown objects going through the screen, we do cars with this in PNG for just this reason.

hehe the rear wind deflector may be functional, but tinting it is probably not

But I was thinking...since this rear wind deflector will have both sides exposed when the top is down, I suppose you could just tint the side that the "Z" emblem is NOT etched into - whether its the "inside" side or "outside" side...I don't remember which, but if it is the outside, then it probably wouldn't matter even if tinting the outside is a little unconventional.

I thought of doing the windsheild in the 5% with the heat filter film.

The side windows are already factory tinted (on my 08), so not sure about those. Besides the windows always go up and down when you anter and exit. None of you got peeling from the rubbing?

Did any one do limo shade on the rear window?

Did tinting the wind deflector make any difference?

There are times when I don't want every passing car to see what I am doing. Sometimes, for reasons I won't go into on this forum, you NEED a bit of privacy from prying eyes --- especially when those eyes are indirectly connected to a shiny LEO badge!!
Plus when you are parked it helps to make it a bit harder for potential thieves to see what you have in your front seat/floorboard without being obvious about it.

I have to ask though, do you seriously drive around with your top down and your windows up???!!!??? Hell, I'm an old fart and even I won't do THAT!! If you need the windows up, then you need to just pull over and put the top up!!!
