Default How do you feel about tint on a roadster?

I have been trying to decide if I want to put tint on my roadster and was wondering what most of you have done. I normally ride with the top down unless I am on the interstate. Even then I have put the top down for an hour or so.

I think I have waited this long to do it because I am not sure if I will like the look of the top down and windows rolled up on the side to block out some of the noise when I am on the phone. I drive at least 5 hours of interstate each week so I tend to be on the phone when I am in the car from time to time.

and before you ask no I am not going to drive something else lol. I bought this car to make my road trips more enjoyable

Also I was going to go with 20% tint if I get it but the guy only offers 30%, 15%, and limo. Have any of you had problems getting tickets with 15% tint?

I had the same dilemma when I bought my ZR. I have always tinted the widows in my vehicles first thing and planned to do the same with the Z. But after driving it for a month I realized that, aside from cruising around town, I most often drive with the windows up and top down on the freeway (either to reduce noise/wind, or to keep the air cond. or heater cranked). With no tint, it's hard to tell the windows are up, but with it would be obvious and look "off" IMO.

Besides, the main reasons for tint is for looks and to block the sun. So the way I figure it...if it screws up the looks with the top down, and blocking the sun in a convertible is a oxymoron, then why get tint. So I'm tintless now for 2 years and no regrets

I bought my Red ZR used. It had very dark tint on the side and rear glass. All of our other non convertible cars have or have been tinted. This car just didn't look right with the tint. It was also kinda clostraphobic. We had them remove the tint prior to delivery. ...much better.

Visibility with top up is bad enough as is. I would vote no tint.

WTH how is somethign like tint so serious it needs to be asked how ppl feel about it???

honestly... it makes the car look much better, helps on hot days when the sun is blastin through the windows.... and yea... it makes the car look better... i dont have very dark tints but in no way what so ever does it intefere with my visibility at night. and cops are not going to harrass someone in a sports car cause of tint unless you were caught being a dumby on the road...

I did my red ZR with 20%. Its so damn hot in Texas you must have tint. Not to mention I got my wallet taken from my car the second week I had it. Now I have a little more security with the darker tint. I even did the small glass between the seats. Made the Z symbol stand out more and looks great over all. I like the top down, windows up best.

I have 35% on the sides and rear. Visibility isn't an issue.

I have my windshield shade up. It's not really that dark.

I feel good about it.

I definately will tint mine, I think it looks great and hides my stuff inside, but I don't mind questionable visibility or how it looks with the top down.

I went to a meet this past spring in southern NJ and the had a tint guy come out to their shop. Took him like 40 minutes and charged $140. It has a lifetime warranty.

Check out Fresh Designs. They use the same type of tint (lifetime warranty). They're having a Mid-a special. It's $130 for Z coupes so I would assume roadsters would be cheaper because there's less glass to tint. Don't forget to tell Robbie you're from the Mid-A region.
