Default Questions - 2006 Roadster

I am contemplating buying a roadster. I have found 2 2006 Roadsters - one Touring, one Enth. Both are 'brand new' - never been titled - <75 miles on each. The dealer is giving a very good deal/discount. Both are automatics.

THEN - I seached the net for '06 350's just for the heck of it. WOW - found lots of posts regarding the oil consumption issue. That scared the heck out of me - and I wonder if I should pass on the '06s and pursue '07 or '08 (at a much higher price!).

BUT - all posts I have read state that the cars had a Manual Transmission. Did the auto have the problem?? I know there was a slight mod on 3.5 w/the MT.

Let me know - I'd like to get the '06 due to financial reasons - but NOT if it is a high risk purchase. I do not want to get tied up with OC tests, engine replacement, etc.

Oh - and the dealer SWEARS he has never heard of any oil consumption problems in 350z's - only Altimas. That kind-of ticked me off....

If anyone knows definitively, please let me know.

Thanks in advance - John

Default 2006 Roadster

I bought a "new" 2006 Touring Roadster in May. Great deal and it has been a dream. No oil consumption issues. I have read a multitude of posts about the oil consumption and have noticed that they generally involve the manual tranny with the high-rev engine. I would go with the touring model unless you are really into modding.

06 5ATs have no oil consumption. We have a 287Hp motor, not the oil loving 300hp Revup. BUY IT!
Touring Butt Warmers FTW!

get the 07! or 05! you will like couple extra tq over hp on the roadster!

just my 2 cents

if you have to buy the 06 then buy/make the oil catch can and see for yourself. i don't think every 06 owners have the oil problems from what i've read, even though i also heard some lost 1qt every oil change.

So there's no oil loss problems with the 05? My 05 ZR is losing oil faster than my RX-8; and the RX-8 is designed to burn out oil. I went to the dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong.

Well - I bought it. But - not the touring (which I originally went there to see). They had an '06 Enth - the color got me: Interlagos Fire. Very cool color - seems to change into different colors depending on how the light hit it. I liked it better than the silver one they had available.

Got a very very good deal on it - I'm happy . And - I wouldn't use the butt warmers in Texas much....lol.

Thanks for the input!

As far as what I know, 05 35th aniv. and 06s are the ones that had the multiple oil consumption reports. (REVUPs)

How much oil are you losing in how many miles? I mean, every car loses a little bites of engine oil every oil change. Or it could be just your car?

Good Luck on fixing the problem!

The oil level was at the halfway mark on the dipstick after about 1700 miles.

I know - but I still wanted the color more than the leather, heated seats, bose (which I would probably mod anyway), etc. I'm OK with the trade-off.

Speaking of sound systems - that is probably the first place I will start - adding sub, upgrade speakers, etc. Anything I should look out for when moding the sound system?

Look into the Wicked CAS "Glove Box" enclosure. It basically fits right behind the driver or passenger seat in our glove box area. A little pricey, but it seems to be getting good reviews. GL
