Default Treatment for the soft top???

I didn't see topics regd this. Do you guys use any type of soft top treatment (conditioners, water proof, spray, etc.)??

Or adding some kind of insulation material on the inside of the soft top?

Im sure there are plenty of topics. Alot of people are using 303 Aerospace Protectant. It comes in a spray bottle. Found it here locally at a boat shop.

For water repelling Scotch Guard is a good product. If your car sits in the sun, as bluespecv03 mentioned, go with 303 Aerospace.

I pay less than $10 for 303.....its the best. Remember your top is vinyl so don't use anything for cloth.

Default Search the site - if possible - much misinfo out there

The top is NOT vinyl. It's a treated cloth. Almost a rubberized cloth.

It is definetly vinyl.

http://www.wolfsteins.com/imports.htm

Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) to be exact. Use a vinyl cleaner and protectant. 303 works perfectly.

STFU ... ^^^^ Do not listen to this ignoramus.

The Roadster's top is made from synthetic material (two posts up - Poly Vinyl Chloride).

303 makes products for both types of tops. I used the cloth cleaner & treatment on my Miata and it worked like a charm. Make sure you know what top you have....

Take a look on the NissanUSA site...
The 07-08 tops "appear" to look exactly the same as my 05 top except it's a different color. Why would nissan suddenly change the material they are using just because it's a different color? The word canvas, especially in this case, only describes the texture of the top. Believe it or not "synthetic" canvas has been around for a while now.

Until Haartz or any other reputable source says otherwise IT IS STILL VINYL.

Dear Charles,

Thank you, for taking the time to inquire about RAGGTOPP Convertible Top Care products for complete exterior care. RAGGTOPP products have been thoroughly tested and endorsed by The Haartz Corporation (OEM) the world's leading manufactured of convertible topping for virtually every American and European convertible automobile manufactured throughout the world with the exception of the Honda S2000, Mazda Miata (vinyl) and Nissan 350Z. www.haartz.com

Per Doug Harrtz, the Nissan 350Z has an acrylic/vinyl tops and IS NOT Fabric. It looks and feels like fabric and should be protected with RAGGTOPP Vinyl Protectant with UV blockers and NO Silicone. Several owners of vinyl convertible tops have used RAGGTOPP Fabric Protectant on their tops without harming the material. After you spray the top, you must spread/wipe dry with a clean cloth or rag.

You should use RAGGTOPP Vinyl Protectant on your dash and car bra to protect against UV damage. Our products do not contain nasty silicone and you will not get a wet/shinny look on your dash. Please call me at (800) 377-4700 if you have any questions or need additional information.

So, Dumb *** Charles/Dumbboy - insulting Z site DICK, (just thought I'd address you as you address others - you know insulting). Does synthetic canvas = Vinyl??? Does a vendors word mean everything when they are trying to sell their product??? The answer - not sure. Unless you can show from a reliable source - say Nissan, you don't know. Nissan consistently calls the top 'CANVAS, CLOTH'. But, it's obvious that it's not just that. I'm waiting for a call back from NNA to find out for sure. In the meanwhile, don't be a DICK and try to have a civil back and forth.

Of course you're right, a vendor is going to instruct their customers to use the WRONG type of protectant.

I bet they pulled the top's material name Poly Vinyl Chloride right out their magic hat.

By the way, it's "in the meantime". I don't even know why I'm responding to you. You're one of the few dopes left on this site that still thinks our tops are made from cloth.

Yes and yes. 303 costs a hell of a lot less than Raggtopp and I find it works better. The water beads longer (I'm not sure if thats a gauge to how well the product works......but it can't be bad).
