Clear protective tape on storage lid.
First, I have searched the forum concerning my problem and came up with ziltch.
Second, once I explain my problem to you all you will come to the same conclusion as I have, namely that I am a dumbass!
Problem statement:
After giving my interlagos fire painted '07 roadster a good waxing I noticed a smal line of white wax buildup curving around the back exactly where my top meets the storage lid. Tried to wipe it clean but to no avail so I took a credit card to it and before ya know it, yep, I had peeled up a corner of the clear protective tape used to protect the paint when the top is up. Well needless to say there was no way to reapply it without it sticking out like a sore thumb so I went ahead and peeled the whole damn strip off. Any suggestions? And please be kind, remember, I am a dumbass and you should feel sorry for me. Thanks, Bob.

Can't you order that strip at the dealer and re-apply it?
Otherwise I would go to a shop specializing in convertibles and ask them for their opinion. The rubber constantly sealing against the paint might damage the finish after a while.

Dealer will charge you an arm and a leg for that piece, and convertible shop most likely will not be very helpful, as not all convertibles' trailing edge rests on top of the deck and uses a protective strip.
That piece appears to be the same material as aftermarket clear bra film. I would check with a place that installs clear bras, to see if they have any leftover pieces that they could sell you. I am sure they can also cut and install a custom piece for you, to replace the one that you peeled off.

I will see if my extended warranty will cover it. If not, then I will take your suggestion mg350zr and run with it. Thanks. I still can't believe that I am the only one who had that wax buildup along the edge of the tape and tried to remove it.

The dealer will charge you a lot for it. When I purchased my ZR the previous owner did the same. So like you I didn't like the way the corner was sticking out. So they replaced it and we split the charge between the dealer and I.
I'm having my car repainted and they're obviously gonna remove that tape when they paint it. Don't see any good reason to replace it since there is already soft rubber lining at the base of the convertible top, so the contact wouldn't be harsh to the storage lid paint......and as long as I keep that area of storage lid waxed and protected, it should be fine.
Am I right or am I missing something?

I have a cler bra business in SoCal and will be more than happy to send you a piece of material. Just let me know what size you need and I will get it in the mail to you. Oh and an address will be good to.
