Default Dealer replaced top

Guys,

Does the two rods going across have a fabric cover over them? I never pay much attention to it.

Maybe I am sitting in my brother's bmw vert too long

if i remember correctly, the fabric should cover the rods.
i'll go out and check.

and +1 for the dealer replacing the top. I actually only had 2-3 days left on the factory warranty.

The fabric covers the one rod completely and I think it's attached with velcro towards the rear. I had the same problem after they installed my new top.

The rods in my '05 are covered in fabric. My top was replaced over a year ago.

Might be an aftermarket top. Mine is and the rods and not covered, they were before with the OEM top. Check to see if the rear window has the rubber frame and that it has the Nissan logo.

Just checked and saw the rubber frame and nissan logo.

I just remember seeing a cover though. It looks like they cut the cloth piece that supposed to connect from one rod to another (they rolled the left over to the first rod - dam dealer).

Can another person confirm. I have a 2005.

At this point its kind of useless. I am not taking it back for the dealer to look (tear her apart) at.

I have had four tops on mine, and yes, there is fabric that covers those two bars, velcroed at the back as previously stated. Sounds like the dealer went cheap on you.

Thanks man.

Just got back from the dealer. I saw another convertible and found out what was missing.

The first rod (near windshield) supposed to be wrap around with the cloth. On my installed, they tuck it to the rod so you see it sticking out in one of the pics.

The second rod, the hanging curtain with velcro supposed to go over the rod first to hide the rod and continues to go to the back for the velcro attachment.

I made an appointment to leave my car over the dealership to fix it next week. I think I can fix it myself. Should I attempt?

Did they replace the top under warranty? What was wrong with it? I am having top issues... My car is an 04 with 12k miles on it... NO WAY this thing should be falling apart the way it is... I am the internet manager @ a Benz dealer and this is my toy... ALL STOCK.. top is mostly down when this is out.

My top was replaced a couple months ago - it has fabric covering both bars like tractng described.

Has anyone had anything replaced if the car is out of warranty by time, but not even close on miles? @ Mercedes, we may DSA a repair if there are special circumstances.. Obviously an MB service center is a little more different than Nissan.. Maybe.
