Oil all hinge points. Oil and/or grease the track at rear-most of the top (bow motor? I forget what it is called right now..)

Good Luck.

PS - if anyone has been able to find the 'lube-gel' - let us know where/how much/etc..

How much do you think a dealer would charge to oil/lube up all the spots on the top?

DO NOT OPERATE THE TOP WHEN IT IS COLD!

I would be cautious about any oil or 'lube" on the top.

True - you should not operate the top in the cold. BUT - I did not recommend oiling the top itself. You should lubricate the hinge points.

Regarding the other post - no idea how much the dealer would charge to oil/lub it - but it's not a difficult task...

Good Luck.

Lol how cold is cold. It is so tempting sometimes. The only time my top gave me some trouble was when it was really cold. I hit the button heard some noises but nothing. I about shat. But the tried again and it worked. Then again when it was finally warmer and it didn't miss a step. It better not be going out.

I just want to make sure the motors and hinges are lubed/oiled.

If you're not careful, WD-40 will stain your top if you get over spray on it. I'd recommend a dry type lubricant.

What many people were using is Primis Lube Gel. BUT - cannot find it any longer.

I've used a plain Silicone spray being careful on the overspray. It has helped.

If anyone can locate the Primis stuff, please let me know.

Thanks

I put my top down today and had to open and close it a few time for the hatch to shut on the top. It was about 30 Deg not to chilly with the heat on and the leather seats as well.

About 45 degrees this morning - my top opened about 4/5ths and then stopped and refused to go lower. I was a stop light too - I must have looked like a right tit as I put it back up grrr. Worked fine later on.

IMHO I would never try to lower my top in 30 degree weather in fact I would not lower my top under 50 degrees. No need for me to take chances especially with this poor design or faulty top materials. This top issue is as bad & more expensive than the feathering issues of years past. I've said this many times before too! Yes, I had my top replaced under warranty.

......I'll just wait for warmer weather! ZR

sluggoZ you are very correct! I just had a small tear patched up today. I was also told that running the top in cold weather is very bad because the hydrolic pump oil will be too cold and that is why the top stops mid-air or you hear noises and nothing happens. Then you burn up the motors. Not good!

Yeah...& maybe adding more stress on the material & it starts separating at the seams.

Guys....why take chances! It's not worth it unless your living the real 'American Dream' where money is no issue.
