Default 2004 roadster rollbar

Does anyone know if the bar behind the seats in the roadster are considered to be rollbars?

I've been having a hard time finding info on that too. Best I could find is on the Nissan site for Canada. They actually mention that the bars are for rollover protection, while the US site doesn't mention them at all.

You would have to believe that they are pretty much full protection, as per a Honda S2000, but it would be nice to confirm it somewhere. Especially for trackdays and Auto-x

Default Rolls bars

Well, I can tell you this much, they are strong. When I was checking out the roadster at the dealership I tried to judge if these were real or ornamental. I pushed, pulled, and whacked these things and they sure FEEL solid to me.

I know that is not a definitive answer but I wanted to share it.

My guess is that they are real. There are probably plenty of tracks that would not let you race your roadster unless it had rolld bars. I know Lime Rock (in CT) requires you to pass the broomstick test.

You sit in the car with the helmet, if a broomstick layed from the windshield to the roll bar clears your helmet you can run that convertible.

Default Yes they Are

As mentioned above they are real.

It mentions this in the Maneul.

Please Don't Test them though. They are limited models - lets keep them all on the road.

Default rollbar

Thanks for all the input guys. I'm thinking of trading the coupe, although I love it. If Nissan would just hurry it up and have the roadster with a turbo then I'd really be set! Keep the shiny side up

I don't think Nissan's attorneys will let them call it "roll bars" because if someone rolls one and gets hurt, major lawsuit ....

Thumbs up rollbar

As long as the officials at the track say it's okay to run it, that's okay with me.

Anyone know if the rollbar on Z provides Rollover Protection like the BMW Z4. That is, pop up on rollover?

BTW, it is interesting BMW provides only Z4 comparsions with TT and SLK on the BMW web site. Either BMW thinks 350ZR is not up to its level or BMW is afraid to compare to something less expensive but better.
