Default to sell or not to sell?

Hi everyone, my husband has a black 2007 350z Roadster convertible with 19inch axis wheels and it only has 2,800 miles on it and its in perfect condition. We are going to be starting a family soon and that car just isnt practical anymore, as much as he hates to he agreed to sell it. Problem is, we still owe 27,800 on it so if we sold it we would need that much. my husband said it would be better to hold on to it for a little longer then try to sell it because the value would stay the same and later on we could lower the price since we'd have more payed off. I really want it gone mainly because its so expensive but I dont know..

I just wanted to get your opinion. Is 27,500 asking way too much? Should we just keep it or do you think we should still try to sell it. any opinions?

With the right marketing and the right buyer maybe not. But to me that would be too much. You can do it. It's just a matter of time. Good luck.

How about you don't make your husband sell it, since he hates the idea so much? Sell YOUR car. Get a better job. Etc.

hmm def something to think about. i was looking online yesterday and i saw blue book retail value is like 28 something?

i hope you're joking about selling my car and getting a job.. i have a corolla that actually can hold more then 2 people, makes great gas milage and is just an all around good car. We dont have any problems making the payments, we both have good jobs (i actually make a little more then him). my husband already has a truck and he never drives his Z so for $550 a month it seems like a waste of space and money.

what kind of goodies are in it. Is it a Grand Touring w/ navigation ? If so, that seem's like a reasonable price + you still have a warranty...

Sounds like the car wasn't bought for practical purposes to begin with, since you only put 2800 miles on it.

Life changes, and you really want it gone, but does HE really want it gone too? My ZR is my baby. If my husband sold it for me, he'd probably be gone.

If it was bought as a collector's item or an investment, then it hasn't met it's purpose yet. If you've changed your mind about the collection or investment, then you may take a loss. In addition to researching Blue Book and classified ads, Carmax can give you a free and pretty-accurate estimate of the car's value.

(You did ask for "any opinions" )

Might want to check the prices, unfortunately the prices of all 350Z's dropped through the floor when the 370 came out. Also its going to drop again dramatically on the 350Z roadsters late summer when the 370 roadster hits the dealers. I have been in the market for a 07+ roadster and to be really honest you are about 2-4k above the average Roadster that I see. I have seen a couple as high as yours but those are few and far between at dealers that dont move any inventory. Really sucks and I wish you good luck on your sale........ The average roadster prices that I have seen are right around 25k for an 07. Try to sell it soon because im sure when the 370 roadster hits dealers the prices will drop another couple thousand.

I think you should keep it. Let your husband have his toy.

It's this or a Porsche when he hits the mid-life crisis. Just kidding.

Don't focus on the value and getting your money out. It never works out. By the time the owed amount meets the value, it will be around $16k. Consider it money spent and move on.

You're pretty stuck in that car... On a good day, you should be able to pickup
$22-$24k, but no where near $27k.

Its a shame to hear that a financial decision might impact your ability to start
a family. Thankfully, a few grand is no great catastrophe.

I say SELL and move on. Take the loss now. T=M!!!

Your husband likely doesn't want to let go. Don't let his emotions impact your
decision making.

I've seen untitled (new) 350Z roadsters start at around $28K on eBay. The longer you wait the less warranty there is to offer. It is normal to be 'upside down' (owe more than what it is worth) at year 2 or 3 of ownership.

25k really?
then is a new 08 roadster for 24k a good deal?
I was checking around my area and thats what I found
I am still on the fence about getting it or not

Post FICO score evidence or STFU.
