Default roadster

though I am ready for the flames on this one, has anyone considering a z roadster considered the MR2. I know it does not have the overall speed, but everything else seems to be at least as good as the ZR. (please don't ban me from this site because of this thread)

umm, yeah, it has soft body, no cargo space, looks like a toy, no power roof, no leather seats.

And we haven't even gotten into the power issue yet, but yeah sure, it's atleast as good as Z roadster

When I decided to buy a roadster I looked at the MR2. Its a fun little car. However, there is NO cargo space at all. I had to have some space to carry my golf clubs. And I was really disappointed in the interior. It looked really cheap. I think they could have done a much better job on the dash and console with very little trouble. I think though, if money was limited, I would consider the MR2. It was really kind of fun to drive.

but I bet that smt transmission is great. it does have leather interior, and the handling is supposed to be teriffic. don't take offense, i was just asking a question. I am getting the Z coupe in spring I had just happen to see an article the the MR2 and it looked interesting. Plus it has the reliability of a Toyota, and Nissan has never been able to match Toyota or Honda for build quality and reliability.

Default Nissan Reliability?

2 years ago we traded in my wifes Nissan Stanza. WHen we traded it in the car had 292,000 miles on it. The belts, Clutch, and a couple other wearable items had been replaced, But nothing else. The car was still in great shape.

When I was younger I had a 300ZX TT. I owned it from 60,000 miles to 95,000 miles. Everytime I started the car, it was like trying to see how fast I could get to 80mph. I drove the car like a bat out of hell, and never let up on the car. I owned it 2 years and had to spend $99.00 for a master slave cylender. - Nothing else.

I would easily rank Nissan with Toyota for reliabilty!

I have also had great success with the 5 different Toyotas I have owned.

I have owned 4 Hondas (I should have learned from the first one). and all 4 where as UNreliable as a Ford. I had a Honda Accord I bought to drive to work (75 miles from home at the time), that was nothing but trouble. I think my case is rare, because everyone else seems to have no problem with Honda. As for me I rank Honda with the American cars for reliability.

Nissan, Toyota, and Mercedes are the 3 top contenders for reliability for me!

Mercedes reliability is way down as of late...too much focus on technological leadership has created lots of probs. for them.

I've never had any significant problems w/ my 3 Hondas or 4 Toyotas, so I rank them at or near the top w/ regard to reliability. Haven't owned a Nissan yet, but I suspect they're pretty close. Build quality def. isn't as good, though.

I bought my 88 Acura w/ 160,000 on it, sold it w/ 193,000. Replaces brake rotors...only engine part was windshield wiper motor....that was a VERY reliable car.

Amongst the many American cars I've owned I've had and still have some of the following imports.
70 240Z put 88,000 on it with no problems
80 mazda 626 78,000 no problems
82 280zx 155,000 no problems (except body rust)
91 300zxTT just sold it with 101,000, no problems
93 300zx convertible 88,000 still have it no problems
92 miata sold it this weekend with 92,000 no problems
64 mercedes 230sl 165,000, still drive it and no problems
04 350z roadster, 922 miles(got it day after labor day) no problems
Basically, I have had very good luck with most of my cars the Japanese cars especially. As far as I am concerned they are all interchangeable as far as reliability.
