just picked up a 05 350z roadster
Hey everyone, I just picked up an 05 350z grand touring, black on black. I've added the jwt popcharter and had a quick question, I know about searching and everything but was wondering if anyone had the Greddy SP2 exhaust system added on their car and if they liked it? I didn't want to spend too much money on exhaust and thought this would be a good choice? any opinions on the Greddy SP2 appreciated.
Thanks

Congrats on your new purchase.
In order to answer your question about the exhaust, what are your future plans with the car? I.E. -- will you ever be turbocharging it? Street car only? Track sometimes?

Hi Darren, thanks for the welcome, I agree it's a great car. It's really only going to be a street only car, my plan was to do exhaust, the replacement cross drilled rotors, rim's and probably the motordyne 5/16" plenum spacer. Any advice would be great!
Thanks.

Hello,
The SP2 exhaust is very much like stock. In fact, the horsepower gains vs stock is negligible. You're basically paying for an aftermarket apples to apples exhaust that has the word "GReddy" etched into the tips. There are other rear section exhausts, like the SP2 that will actually make decent power:
Apexi WS2
Fujitsubo
JiC DE Type 1 (this is a single muffler system)
As well as others. Just keep in mind that, while on the outside looking in, your goals may at this time be conservative, the nature of power is that one always wants more. If you understand what I mean by this, then I would suggest procuring products that will be functional down the road for bigger modifications. I.E.-- if you purchase the WS2 it will make decent power now, while your car is naturally aspirated (no turbo) and it will enhance any future turbo system that you may chose to go with in the future. The GReddy SP2 is an exhaust that would be purchased only if you have a hard-on for GReddy products, and you're okay with paying ~$400-$500 to have the tips say GReddy on your exhaust. I do like GReddy, don't get me wrong, but it's an exercise in futility when there are other exhausts on the market that will make decent power now and be an asset to a turbo system in the possible future.
Any of the plenum spacers are great: AAM makes theirs angled and are made out of high quality billet aluminum. PowerLab makes a 3/8" billet aluminum one as well, and should be back on the market again in a few weeks. All of the spacers are going to give you within 1-2 whp of each other.
I suggest slotted, rather than drilled rotors. Drilled rotors have a tendency to crack and they reduce brake fade/brake dust the same as slotted. The only reason to go with drilled is for aesthetic (looks) purposes -- and then, you're going to "pay to play" down the road when they crack and need to be replaced.
Wheels: make sure that whomever you purchase them from is aware of the brakes that you have. I.E.-- if you have Brembo, or another big brake kit, or will ever be going with big brakes in the future, let the person you are buying the wheels from know this. Offsets are VERY important because they often times mean the difference between having to run a spacer or not to. Any vendor worth their weight should ask you what brakes you have or will have.
Hope this helps.

Congrats on the ZR. I added a JWT PoP charger to my ours (my wife's) on day 1 also. Day 2 I added sway bars - and was VERY happy with how it tightened up the suspension for very low dollars invested. I added 19" SSR GT3 wheels later, and the 06' anniversary wheels for winter since I didn't like the wagon wheels.
Enjoy the breeze!

Congrats on your ZR!
I don't know about the Greddy exhaust, but I am very happy with my Nismo exhaust. If you haven't looked at the Nismo, you might want to give it a look (and listen).
I also have drilled and slotted rotors with Brembo brakes. I got them from R1Concepts (link)
As Intensepower mentioned, make sure you check if you have Brembo brakes or standard, as it makes a difference in the wheel clearance needed and also on the types of rotors you get.

The R1Concepts seems to be as good or better than the stock Brembo's (which weren't slotted or drilled) and at much less cost. I forgot how good the whole Brembo brake system works until I borrowed someone's car recently and almost hit someone because their car didn't stop as quickly as I am used to.
They were actually recommended on this board, which is how I found out about them in the first place.

Hi. I just put a Greddy Sp2 on my 05 Roadster this week. I love it, it looks great sounds a lot louder than stock, same tone, but alot deeper rumble. I also added this week, a Tanabe Y-pipe, Motordyne plenum spacer (this really works) and a Mishimtoto intake (sounds great). Under 3000 rpm everything is quiet, but hit it and everything wakes up. Have fun!!!!

Hello-
new to the Z world too. My '05 ZR is for street-use, taking my best gal (wife of 42 yrs) out for a top-down, wind-in-your-hair fun drive. I've added the Pop-charger, Borla true-dual exhaust, Megan HF cats, S2K, antenna, Hella air-horns, LED tails, EVO LED markers in front bumper. It's a GT (Brembo-equipped) and I went with EBC 3D rotors (dimpled & slotted) with Axiss ceramic pads. So far, so good. Next, am installing Unorthodox LW pulleys (std. size) and finally, am researching new clutch/flywheel combo. I'm concerned about reports of 'chatter' at idle; if that noisiness is the universal experience with these lightened flywheels, then I'll drop that idea- car is surely quick enough as-is. Have fun, drive safely and enjoy your roadster- we sure do.

thanks Harvey, I got it as a weekend play car. I think I will be adding the brembo replacement drilled rotors, and possible a hks exhaust, I don't know if I want to go that route yet, just checking out the forums and recommendations.
