Default Coilovers?

Ok so i'd really like to get a suspension but don't know what to get. I'm just a little lost on the whole thing. Oh and the suspension would be for drifting and track.

What is the best bang for buck; springs, coilovers, etc.?

What's the best brand (I hear Tein and Eibach)?

If I bought coilovers, what else would I need to buy with it? Does it need extra parts, camber kit, sway bars, etc?

Thanks

I am new to this suspension/lowering thing too. I spent a couple of hours reading through the brake and suspension sub-forum and it was very useful.
Soon there would be a lot of good guys posting in this thread to help, but you would undertand them better if you arm yourself with the basics. I hope someday we become experts too.

Lol sorry i know it was the lazy way to do it, but dont have time right now super busy at work. What i mean by extra parts, is if you lower the car don't you need something to keep your wheels straight? Thank you very much guys

well if you lower the car a lot then you most likely will need a camber kit

stock will be just great till you learn how to drive and what suspension parts do what and how to use them to improve you lap times and drifts.

1. define your budget

2. define clearly what you are using your car for? Given the nature of the post, I can estimate you're not doing anything competition oriented, so how much time, and be honest, will the car spend on the track

2B a drift setup and track setup have next to nothing in common with one another.

There are other things to consider too, but start with these, and the more details you provide, the better.

There are days when the stock suspension beats the crap out of me when driving on older back roads!

But this got me thinking... Aren't all coilovers adjustable?

I am more interested in drifting. The car would spend weekends on the track, and I would drive it 3-4 days out of the week to work. The drive is only 10 miles to and from work though and not many bumps along the way. Money is not an object for me. Thanks you guys for all your help so far!

yes but i used to work at a shop and when we would dial them in for optimal use they beat the crap out of me at all settings, my opinion is tiens are cheap, but hey its only my opinion, to each his own

What LSD do you have? What tires are you using for drift? What other suspension mods?

saying money is not an object is probably a far stretch from the truth - if we tell you that your best bet is a $12k set of Quantums, is that what you're going to be get? Probably not. So your best bet is setting a budget, because your choices vary widely

Z1 has some good starter questions you need to figure out for sure......

but with daily driving a bit and occasional weekend track i would set a budget of max about 2k and work from there.....learn drifting, learn your car and then you can always upgrade if you feel the need.......but more than likely wont need too...

For more on beginning drifting, thought you may like to check here:
