Default Roadster Ordering Question

Today is the 90 day mark from when my dealership "ordered" my Roadster.

So in frustration I have a few questions:
Has any one that ordered a Roadster (and not had one come in under dealer inventory) received their car yet?
If so - and hopefully you know - what did Nissan show as the official order date?

After finally receiving my VIN today I called the Nissan 800# and they told me that my car wasn't ordered until 8/02/03...a full month after the dealership said it was ordered. (Note that I was the first one to officialy order my car from this place)

I realize that each dealership was able to special order "x" number of cars on July 1st.
I am just wondering if they may have pushed my order back a month so that they could get a few moreRoadsters in to sell (knowing that mine was already money in the bank)

Hopefully Nissan just didn't put the orders in for a month - but if my assumptions are right I really need some information to arm myself with when I go in to talk to these phools.

*And no, the ordering person has not returned my call on this.

I really apprecaite any help.

if the dealership is jerking you around , if you put a deposit down cancel the check, unless you ordered a special roadster then call the salesperson who you are dealing with about 3 or 4 times a week till you get some good answers. if you did not order a special roadster go to another dealership, there are a lot of roadsters sitting in showrooms as we speak!!!!! dont miss out!! make some calls to other nissan dealerships in your area. good luck!!!

I was first on my dealers list of pre-orders. Mine came in September 3rd. The color and options you ordered will make a difference in delivery.

Try Trophy Nissan in Dallas area, off 635 and 30, they are the only dealer that buy huge amount of the Z at once from Nissan, and they dont accepte ordering i think, thats where i bought my Z from, they have at least 5 to 10 Z deliver every week, last week i went there, i saw at least 10 Z out on the lot for sell and 5 of them are Roaster. just give them a call, their # is 972-613-2200.

Default Special Ordered Mine

I put my deposit down on 4/16/03.

The dealership could not actually order til 7/1/03.

I received mine on 9/10/03.

Mine was a silverstone.

I was told Nissan makes cars in sets of colors at a time. Silverstone was late on the list. I noticed alot of other colors coming to America before I got mine, but never saw a Silverstone til I got mine.

Also the Nav was supposed to be a late availiable option, so if you ordered the Nav, that Might have slowed it down.

If you didn't order Nav, and the dealership has already received other roadster, then they are screwing you over to get some in that they will prob mark up ADM.

Some dealers get theirs later than others. It depends on their district rep as to the order they receive.

While waiting was HELL, I must say it was worth every minute. Besides the front brake pads(I replaced) - For the money the car is perfect.

After the July order date, the next one that opened was Aug 4th.....so three dealers told me........If it was ordered in Aug, I was told not to expect delivery until March 04!.....I put a deposit and waited.......then I lucked out, because someone who had ordered one that arrived in August backed out and I snatched his up!

I got a similar story. My order was delayed and delayed. Then I got lucky and they offered me a Roadster that was pretty close to what I ordered. I should have in in a couple weeks.

You can sure speed things up if you can be a little flexible.

The "special order" is a crock!! I ordered my roadster in May and finally gave up in Sept after 6 missed delvery dates. I called the Nissan customer "service" line and the woman who answered first told me it was my fault for ordering a special car and then tried to blame the dealer. She assured me that the "special orders" were the first to be filled. While I was waiting for my car an identical one sat unclaimed in Arkansas. That's when she blamed the dealer for letting it get away. My dealer found a car for me that was the car I originally wanted and I took delivery two weeks before my "special order" came in.
Since I got mine the dealer has taken delivery on three others and only one is left as of yesterday.

I put two $1000 deposits down for a silverstone w/orange ventilated seats. I was told best March 04. I couldn't stand to wait and checked dealer inventory every day in the Pa/De/NJ area.
All..but three dealers I called wanted anwhere from $2000 to $10,000 over sticker.
I was set on not paying over sticker (which I still wasn't happy about) but I wanted the car.
I was also set on Silverstone or Black Touring. Cooper Nissan in Easton,Pa doesn't sell over sticker. I asked what they had coming in and they said SB Touring. I put a deposit down and It came in in about 3 weeks.
I called Nissan consumer affairs to complain about the $5000 to $10, 000 (most common,in this area) to see if they could locate one for me. They called back and said that's what they are going for and that if I wanted one that's what I have to pay. Whatever the dealer was asking. Also, they said special orders you will have to wait until March. A little discouraging, but I searched found one and bought it...at sticker. SB Touring Charcoal Interior
My whole search process took 4weeks. Took ownership 9/17

One more vent...Peruzzi Nissan...I bought 3 Nissans from them in the past and one Corvette used....thought they would have some customer loyalty to me...called me excited when a white roadster came in...told me only $10,000 over list...I hung up on them.

Good Luck

I really appreciate all of the help and advice...

I did have NAV on the order so that could have pushed the ship date out a bit. And it is blue (maybe that is one of the later colors).
Either way, they say it will be in on the week of the 24th and I am getting it for MSRP so I will just be happy and wait.
(still can't believe I am happy about purchasing a car @ MSRP)

I will let everyone know when it finally comes in....winter had better hold off for a few more weeks!

Your the first person that I've heard of that paid $1200 under MSRP... for a Roadster...not Coupe... Consider youself lucky.

I contacted about 25 dealers (at least) within a 100 mile radius from my home... (PA, NJ, DE, NY) All but three were selling anywhere from $2000 to $15,000 over list. The norm being $5000. The other three...MSRP, two of those you placed orders and waited till March 2004.

I also consider myself lucky to have paid MSRP and trust me I came close to paying $2000 over just because I wanted it that bad. Especialy before winter...(then I came to my senses, with a little help from my husband saying... NO)

I wonder if you had any connections?

I agree that paying MSRP is a good deal right now. I called around my area like you did. Anyone that had one in stock was feeling like they were holding a lottery ticket worth $5K-$10K.

I went to a couple dealership anyway to try to lower the mark-up (like you I considered paying it). I finally found a dealer who had one "coming in" that he would sell me for MSRP. I consider it a fair price for such a hot selling car.

$1200 under MSRP sure does sound like there is a back-story. Whether there is a story or not, it was a lucky break.

Universal Nissan in Orlando, FL is selling all Roadsters for sticker price. No markups, no add-ons. I don't work for them, so this is not an endorsement (I didn't buy my Roadster from them), but they call themselves a "No Haggle" dealership and if you want one, they have them in-stock.

Default Discounts

Sorry it took me so long to respond, I did have some personal posts in reply to my first post. I do know the GM of my local dealer, he is my neighbor.......HOWEVER, I have talked him into passing along the love to other Z want-to-be owners. I put my deposit in last night, and should have mine in the next 2-3 months. If anyone is interested in a discounted roadster, feal free to PM me or email me at duncanwa@***.net and I will get you in touch with him. He said he would discount below MSRP. he does have a liquid silver touring roadster with nav and 18" wheels on the lot right now, with a decent discount if anyone is interested. I got a sandstone enthusiast with side airbags to take the place of my expedition, so I am going WAY down =)

Hopefully for your sake, you will get a roadster in 2 to 3 months. and it is the one you want, color, price, options, etc... Make sure that you GET THAT IN WRITING. I found that I could negotiate price on orders placed. Several places said I could get it by December and the other dealers told me they we BS ing me, no way before March 04. But again, being the impatient person I am I didn't want to wait and got one at MSRP, not my first choice but second (had to be touring and any color except sunset)

where did this information about march 04 for a silverstone come from? Has anyone confirmed with a dealer yet? If so I may have to switch to superblack.
