So after installing my new top we realized I need new bands for the front. I went to my nissan and they list at 18.25 each. My questions is do you guys think I could mayb get a stronger band material like at michael's to use instead that would last longer?this is the part number im talking about 97150-CE01B

went the ebay route today, I searched for elastic bands 2" and found 5yards of it black heavy duty for like $6 shipped.Im gonna do a d.i.y since its something everyone with a roadster has to replace eventually. I think it requires 8 rivets 3mm or 4mm, project should come out under $10 instead of $40.

Be sure to recover the old rivets out of the bow when you drill them out. Mine rolled around in there on every turn for weeks. I finally had to drill a hole in the bow and wait for them to fall out.

ok so I totally forgot about the d.i.y but I used 3mm rivets I think lol and then used a 2-4mm hitachi drill bit but it kept breaking.Ended up using a ryobi drill bit 7/64 and it worked fine.It wouldnt drill all the way so I would grab a nail at the end of each and hammer it in to knock the rivet inside the metal bow. I recommend using a bigger rivet like 4mm if you can find them because mine kept getting loose after putting them in. After installing the new elastic bands though by top still wont go all the way down like it goes inside the tonneau cover but its like 3 inches from closing.
