Question Noise with Roof Down?

I realize this is a "relative" question, but how noisy do you find it with the roof down? And for that matter, with the roof up? I have not had the opportunity to drive a Roadster yet, and keep wondering about the noise. I would be particularly interested to hear opinions from those who have driven other convertibles to compare it to.

Thanks. Great forum!

With the top down around 80 or so, you have to speak up, but I don't find the noise bad at all. Below 60 I don't have to speak above my normal tone at all.

Same here. Around 60-65mph I can have a normal conversation with my passenger. Anything above that and you need to speak louder. But it's not like you have to holler. I think it's attributed to the fact that when sitting in the ZR you sit really low.

with the top up it is surprisingly quiet. some sound leaks in from the back where the top meets the car. sometimes when a sound is coming from in front of you, it seems that it is coming from behind. throws me off sometimes, especially if it is an emergency vehicle. otherwise, very good.

with the top down, wind buffetting is pretty tame. i find that about 65 mph or so, i have to talk kind of loud to my passenger.

i had a miata and drove a mustang convertible before and with the top down the z is the best. top up, the miata seems like the top is still down in terms of noise. the mustang.... cant really remember but that was pretty quiet too.

Thanks for the feedback! But please, all you other Roadsters, share you thoughts.

Thanks,

The top up noise is a little unnerving at first if you're used to driving a hardtop vehicle. I was suprised how easily I could hear cars driving on either side of me, but I've gotten used to it now. My top is down most of the time anyway. Even on a chilly day, with the heated seats and the side windows up, the experience is unparalled.

The wind buffeting is minimal.
