Default Transmission noise

I just purchased a 2007 roadster with the 6 speed manual transmission. When the car is idling in neutral I can hear a rattling or light grinding noise coming from the transmission. When I press the clutch down the noise goes away. When I release the clutch the noise comes back. I returned the car back to the dealer and they replaced the clutch bearing. When I picked up the car I noticed that the same noise is still there just not as loud. The dealer told me that is normal with these cars. Is this true?

Thanks for your feed back.

But when I pull up to my buddies with the car and they ask we what is that noise, and I tell them it is normal, they think I'm crazy!
So my question is " How can this be normal? "
I have also noticed that when the car is cold there is no noise, after driving for a while and the car is hot then the noise is really loud.

I noticed this and researched this as well. Everyone says this is normal. When you drive the car hard it seems a little louder than normal sometimes.

It's just normal, accept it as such and you'll be at peace with our loud *** trannys.

Chatter, yes. But "really loud" does not sound normal to me. Mine (05) doesn't do that.

I had my stock clutch + flywheel replaced with a JWT clutch (just because I am hard on my clutches) and noticed a very loud rattling noise right away.

I was very concerned at first until it was explained that the dampeners that are included on the OEM clutch assembly reduce the chatter that we hear from our transmission. When the JWT clutch was installed, there was no more dampener to reduce the chatter.

As far as OEM clutch assemblies being noisy, i was also told that some transmissions were louder than others, and that the Z has a very loud transmission.

mine is the same way. Had a competition clutch and flywheel put in by Sharif at Forged and it rattles pretty good. Talked to him about it, brought it back, even had the throwout bearing replaced and it still does it...normal! annoying though..
