Default new top installed

Just had a new top AND frame installed under warrantee. And - they did a great job. Everything is lined up - looks great.

Original top developed a small crack/slice.

Very impressed so far...

FYI - the dealer was Texas Nissan of Grapevine.

Why did they have to replace the frame? Did they give any indication what THAT all would have cost out of warranty?

Sorry for the delay in responses....I've been a bit tied up...

They replaced the frame because they stated it was the culprit for the tear. And - I believe them. It developed a tear right where a hinge rubbed on it. The new frame has a little foam pad (I think) covering the hinge.

Anyway - the new top looks just like the old top - except new

Oh - out of warrantee - this would have cost $5,115. My out of pocket: 0. Phew! Hopefully I'm good for a few more years...

Damn - I think the hinge is making a tear on mine AGAIN. I replaced the first top, and now my second top is developing a tear too at the same spot.

It's on the passenger side on the top behind the window, where it folds when the top goes down.

Has anyone replaced the frame by themselves? I want to change the motors too.

Thanks for the update. Actually not as bad as I thought it would be out of warranty.

BTW how did you get your 06 to be covered under warranty, did you buy an extended one?

not saying your lying, but 5,115 sounds a little high for a top and frame. if this is true, i will be driving with the top down permanently in new england when mine goes. might get a bit nipply.

I bought it 'new' in Nov '07! Yes - it is an '06. Got a great deal - and I still have a few months left in the factory warrantee.
