Default Roadster No More...

Well, after 4+ months of waiting...and calling...and wondering where my Z Roadster was, today I found out.

The ETA was pushed out by 3-5 days 5 different times - with the car constantly being 1 or 2 days away, I waited.

Today was ETA #5 so I called the dealership to tell them that I wanted either the car or my deposit. (I thought this might scare the heartless fools)
They called Nissan distribution and found out that my car was on a train that derailed several weeks ago on it's way to Texas. The undercariage of the car was damaged so they sent it off for repair. (Obviously I am not going to buy and new "previously damaged" car.)
I didn't feel like getting into the "why couldn't you have found this out earlier" talk...but I am sure they could have.

To make a very long story short, they happily refunded my $1,000 and since it is 56 F and raining (with winter getting ever closer). I am going to put the Roadster on hold for a while.

I certianly apprecaite everyone's help and advice over the past several months. I look forward to taking to you all again next Spring.

Best regards,
Ryan

Default Spring

Don't wait too long to order if you wants yours by spring.

The lead time on these Roadsters is still pretty long.

I had the same experience, they kept telling me a new (later) date every couple of weeks.

Hang in there, it is worth it!

I couldn't wait that long for one!!! My top is up only when it's raining.
I wonder what the prices are going to be for 05's. Can't find info on it but I bet they will go up 3-4K.
Also, what type of production numbers are they forecasting for 05'? I saw a thread forecasting Roadsters as 25% of the Z business in future years.
My dealer told me they were only producing 5000 of them for o4'. Is this true?

I think the price going up that much is extremely unlikely.

I remember the same rumors going around about the 2004 prices.

But for a Roadster, the price you PAY could well be much higher in the spring. The wait could also get longer.

Good point about selling $$ vs MSRP. Atlanta dealers were pre-selling Roadsters from 41K to 52K!! I felt very lucky to pay 1K over MSRP and walk out with it the next day.

Any info on #'s produced so far for 04's? When will '04 production end?

50 degrees and sunny, windows up, heat on and bun warmers lit and the roadster still feels great with top down. Don't wait! If you do wait, once you do get it, you'll think about all the months you missed when you could have had it and been "enjoying the ride."

...I'm on my 2nd roadster...I find it hard to believe some of you guys can't get your hands on one...

I was told production for '04 raodsters is going to be either 8000 or 9000. I haven't heard on '05 yet.
Rumor has it that the last 4 digits of your VIN tell which production number your's was (Roadster only) for '04, mine is#0806, so it's supposed to be the 806th one produced. Don't know if this is true or not, if anyone can confirm, please do so.

Dont sweat it, you probably wouldnt have driven it that much in the winter anyway. Get it once it starts getting warmer and enjoy it all summer long.
